Hi Nicole, thanks for your message! I do love my kitchen. Our layout is absolutely perfect. I honestly wouldn't change anything. The island is 3m x 1.2m (nice and big) and the distance from cooktop bench to island is 1120mm. Cooktop bench is 2380mm. Sorry, on second thought I would change just one detail! The cupboards under the island on the stool side are push-open and it is actually very irritating as my kids don't sit still so they're constantly kicking them open with their feet/legs! Other than that, I love everything. I like having the sink in the island as I'm washing up more often than cooking so I can keep an eye on the rest of the house. We have a big bin drawer for separated rubbish and recycling next to the sink. Our dishwasher is on the other side. The microwave is under bench too with a drawer underneath and next to this is a smaller cupboard for kids plates, bowls, beakers (easy access for the kids to help themselves) and chopping boards. I spent ages figuring out the lay out of our kitchen and am really happy with the result (four months in). We put the sink on the back wall, under a window and love looking out. Make sure there is a bin drawer next to the sink. Ours goes bin, sink, dishwasher, drawers, stove, drawers, oven stack. I think the passages in your kitchen area are a bit narrow. We have 1300mm between the benchtop edges. People can then pass each other easily and it doesn't matter if the drawers or dishwasher is open. The island then has drawers holding the plates and cutlery. You can unload the dishwasher straight into the opposite drawers which the kids love. You have two lots of corner cupboards in the pantry and might be better off with one straight line as I don't believe you gain much more and it will feel more spacious. Consider leaving a space on the kitchen side of the island so you can sit too. I hate standing while entertaining and everyone else is sitting at the island! Hope that helps.

Could you swap the fridge with the wall oven, going by your photo both fridge and Wall Oven would fit side by side. I would definately have the fridge on the cook top wall and not on the other side of the kitchen. I see by the photo that the timber beam could be in the way, I would speak to your plumber who should have a simple solution on ducting the range hood. A simple one built into a special cabinet above the cooktop can recirculate or be ducted outside by either exposed stainless tube for your industrial/country look or have the ducting boxed in, the ducting can be flexable so no problem avoiding beams.
