Colour of bulkhead - ceiling, wall or cupboard?
Comments (10)Hi I'd go the colour of the wall. I love a white kitchen :) If you're looking for a point of difference, however, you could add some colourful cook books in the corner. You could also add little door knobs along the top cabinets, if you want, too help break them up a bit. Although drastic, removing the cupboard doors above the fridge and filling with colourful cook books would also add a pop of colour. It would still be in keeping with your shaker style too. Although, I'm sure you've just spent a lot on those doors, lol. Anyway, I think you've done a great job. It's a hard space to work with, small and u shaped. I can now appreciate the difficulties in working with an odd shaped kitchen! It's hard to get symmetry, so it limits what you can do. I'm about to do a similar style kitchen and was wondering what colour you used on your cabinets? They look great :)...See MoreA big empty gap, & white cabinets, or charcoal cabinets?
Comments (7)Hi Barry, I personally don't think the large blank space lends itself to a piece of art. It's up too high and contrary to your thoughts, it wouldn't be the feature you'd hope for it to be. Besides, the money you spend on a piece large enough, would be better spent on a smaller, higher quality piece mounted at the correct height (eye-level) that would compliment another part of your home. Getting back to the blank space, have you considered using a timber veneer for the wall cabinets? Something that would work with your bench, and then you could use the same veneer as wall panels to continue above the blank space over the cupboards. Perhaps you could even incorporate led strip lighting to give it a little more wow factor. Timber is great because it adds a layer of warmth to the polished concrete and dark cabinets. Good luck, and keep us posted! Would love to see which way you go. Cheers, and have a great weekend. Steve...See MoreCathedral ceiling in kitchen
Comments (26)To assist with harnessing the sea breeze suggest a beautiful long narrow feature window that follows either side of the pitch of the roof (which will let in a lovely sky view plus breeze), or just have the top triangle as a window. Understand the desire to have the small window there however in a room with big glass/window features, the small window looks like an after thought and is at the wrong scale....See More90% sure on paint colour. Comments (7)I have got the sample pots and I’ve painted them on large cardboard, it’s more the benchtop I want to blend in nicely, as well as splashback. I know I won’t find the exact combinations, would be nice to see one or two of the colours to get a more visual idea. They aren’t the popular ones like lexicon and all the mainstream dulux whites. So the bricks have all been removed, and under the bench is just going to be the same as the kitchen cupboards. The brick pier has been Gyprocked. Do you think a smoky mirror splashback will look good?...See MoreColin Palmer
