Kitchen door colour advice required!
Comments (16)Thanks for all the comments, its great to get the feedback. The apartment is really small and actually very narrow in the kitchen space being only against the one wall. The dark wood makes the room feel smaller and almost pulls the ceiling down lower than it is... To be honest I never really liked it! I am conscious we have bought a lot of American Oak wood scandi style furniture from Icon by Design to fit out the place and it may be overkill going with more timber in such a small area... after getting 4 quotes, I have found it is cheaper in Sydney to buy new doors and have manufactured than to repaint existing doors thats why I thought I could have them all replaced and go handleless We are putting a very small open shelf to the right of the range hood where the existing shelf is, this will be coloured in lighter oak timber veneer to break up the top row colour block.. We decided on the wall/ceiling colours from the beginning and now just trying to work through our kitchen, we found a circuit with easy access to install an LED light strip today which was great, but am now considering whether we put in a glass door to break it up etc. It's so hard to decide!...See MoreGlass choice and Colour for the front door?
Comments (10)Hi - we had the same beer bottle glass look in exactly the same layout/space at our front door & also again above it on the 2nd story in our tiny walk in robe. We replaced the beer bottled glass with frosted glass to still allow light and privacy. As for the door - a dark grey colour like monument or ironstone (similar to colour to what's in your brick) might work? Or if you can afford to, consider replacing both the door/window panel to a large timber door to make your entrance stand out :)...See MoreDoor hardware, cabinet pulls, tap ware colours.
Comments (1)It would not be unusual to have black knobs, handles etc and different hinges. It is personal preference though....See MoreHelp! I can't choose a finish for our door hardware. My head hurts!
Comments (21)I did get a guy out to give me a quote on cleaning and painting the roof. He said he will have to quote it using scaffolding because of the steep roof. That was a couple of weeks ago, but haven't heard back from him yet. I have seen some bad paint jobs of terracotta tiles so am a bit nervous about getting it painted. I wouldn't mind if my tiles were just slightly darker like yours rather than orange, but I do know that the darker they are, the more they will hold heat and Brisbane is hot....See MoreJo Louise
