4 Bedrooms and 1 Bathroom, or 3 Bedrooms and 2 Bathrooms (ensuite)?
Comments (15)We're building 4x3.5 Two with ensuite and the others with a jack and Jill. Life has changed unfortunately and now everyone in the household works, kids stay at home longer and ageing parents sometimes move in for care. At the moment we have a 3 x 1 and really the only thing we really want for is a second toilet, which growing up we had because we had the one out the back with the red backs....See MoreThe Great Bathroom(s) Debate
Comments (18)I would prefer to keep the WC separate to the Bathroom as you have 3-4 kids? who will get bigger very quickly, having a powder room downstairs won't help with the morning rush to school., But it's your house so I have added a pocket door between the WC and Bathroom. I have also taken that small robe space for an extra vanity in the WC/Powder room. No width dimesion given for the WC The ensuite could use that extra entrance space as a sit down makeup and hair bench for your wife....See More2 way bathroom or eliminate main bedroom entry?
Comments (6)If this is to be your forever home, I would suggest to convert the bedroom 4, with the existing ensuite and shed, into a master suite. If your boys are 6 and 8 years old, they will soon be 13 and 15 and you won’t want to share a bathroom with them, and you would not want them to access your bedroom unannounced through the bathroom! Totally renovate the bathroom into what you require for the boys and guests. Totally renovate the bed 4, ensuite and shed into your master suite. Look to the future use, as it will be here before you know it. Don’t renovate for what you need now renovate for what is needed in the future, as in this build environment it may take longer to be completed than anticipated....See MoreConverting tiny 3 way bathroom
Comments (4)We previously had a similar bathroom, used by our 4 kids, which was longer than yours (our was about 3m from window to door)- see picture. We had a cavity slider between vanity area and the hallway, which was good for privacy although the kids didn’t actually often close it. I would get rid of your linen cupboard and use that space for the shower. I wouldn’t try to squeeze a vanity between bath and shower or it will just end up feeling squished again. If you can, put in a vanity that extends all the way across so you have extra bench space and storage below. We had two sinks because we had the space, but in reality we only used two simultaneously when our kids were small and they brushed their teeth; when they got bigger they tended to just stay out of each others’ way....See MoreCarol
