I dont know your personal style, but I would stay with a light color in the hallway to keep it bright because If you have the wall space, hallways are a great spot to display the family photos/ art in a gallery style and a color wont distract your eye from them. As far as the paint itself , I also had your idea( 4 kids myself). Years ago RL paint had a catalog with a hallway that was painted the same color ( a light gray) and the upper half or 1/4 was a flat finish paint and the lower was a satin or other. Great solution for kids with sticky fingers. It looked great!

Your home looks like it may be 'vintage' so you may not want to paint the doors if they are in good condition but you may want to frame them. Have some fun in your hallway with some colour. After all you don't spend that much time there and it is the first impression everyone will have of your home when they walk in. Paint the trim one colour and the walls another. As others have said put some 'pop' in the area with what you hang on the walls. Perhaps you have a favourite painting or picture that can give you the inspiration for the colours to use.

Lindy, Why dont you do a computer image of the outside of your home like you can do with digital decorator and play with some schemes. You would instantly know if you like it or not!! Otherwise as Luke suggested, you need to decide if you want to contrast or blend?? I would certainly start off with a blend, as changing it to a deeper colour later would be far easier than trying to go back to a lighter colour if you decide you don't like it. Deep Ocean can look stunning with Jarrah but now that you have Monument I think you really need to stick to Windspray if your window frames are that colour otherwise I feel you will be introducing too many colours and you will spoil the elegant look of the home. also consider different lighting as warm and cool light globes can have an impact on the perceived colour of paints and i would prefer cool white paint and lights
