is there an entry to bring in groceries through the laundry, is there another entry to the laundry, is the glazed wall open to the courtyard and will you use the courtyard for outdoor eating?...a whole floor plan would help understand the spaces better but the sink in the pantry means that everyone has to walk into the work space to fill a kettle or a glass with water....placement depends on how you work and how many and ages of those living in the house but i would prefer to swop the fridge to be next to the oven tower and the sink in the island and the pantry counter kept for using appliances

Congrats on doing the planning and thinking about how you will use the space, absolutely essential even if you don't do a lot of cooking. A well planned, functional kitchen will make your life easier and add value to your home. I am an avid cook and long time renovator so have done many kitchens in my time. Looking at your space and how I personally use a kitchen I'd suggest two sinks. A small prep sink on the stove side and a large double bowl sink on the island, with dishwasher underneath. I think your hotplates are in the right location as long as you have at least a 500mm or more of bench on the wall oven side and then ideally approx 2m (if you have it) from the hotplates to your prep sink. This divides your kitchen into zones, prep, cook on the back wall and clean up, serve on the front. If you tried to put everything on the back wall it would be too crowded and not work. Think about a desidng that allows for two people at all times to be in the kitchen, you do this by dividing your kitchen into zones. Prep, serve, clean up and think about how you entertain or liaise with the family whilst you are in the space. I hope this helps and best of luck with your new kitchen.

Thank you all for taking the time to advise me. I really like the idea of having a clear island bench, but I can see your point that the double sink on same bench as the stove may end up feeling cramped. I do like the idea of a second small sink too. Ahh, decisions! And then I have to decide on cabinets and tapware and benchtops. It's all too much :)

I'm another for 2 sinks. However I'd go with a small sink to island for washing hands, veggie's, etc. and a larger sink to under window. Island sink on the left hand size so its fairly central to kitchen.

Sinks in island appear to have fallen out of favour over the last few years as they get a build up of unwashed plates, etc....
