I need advice on my kitchen
Comments (6)This does not look unsafe to me, the concerns you have are warranted because you have had a terrible experience. Generally speaking, things like this can be resolved easily, however your tradespeople are unwilling to assist you. It does look to me the clips that attach to the unit itself and then secure to the carcass are not attached correctly, this perhaps was a rushed appliance install without reading the spec sheet. Two things may have happened, either the clips have simply not been fastened properly, or secondly, they have broken in the installers haste. If you o with Fiona_abs suggestion, the company will be held accountable, only it may take awhile. I fear perhaps thats why so many people experience these shonky trades, because resolving issues can seem to hard. Your kitchen is beautiful, and your money as good as anyone else's. I hope you take them to fair trading and force their hand at returning to sort these things out. And when all is said and done, name and shame them! Reputation is everything in this industry, it seems there's so much work out there, they can pick and choose, and treat people badly. Not on. If it all seems to much to deal with, I believe you could still ave the result you want. If so, a local handyman can tell you which of the step it is, and the clips could be sourced from the manufacturer as a spare part. I'm hoping it will be an easy final fix! Comments (24)Hello, Sorry in advance to bring up an old thread/subject, However looking for any additional advice/direction i can get on comment from midesign0401 below... mldesign0401 In Victoria a range hood is a requirement in new kitchens. No longer is it acceptable for a simple exhaust unit, rather it must now be ducted to external air. So your range hood must be flued either through your roof space or via a horizontal duct to an external wall. It must be installed and signed off, and your house insurance will require your sign off document if your house insurance is to cover damage due to fire, or you will find yourself in a predicament. The provision for installing a range hood above a gas cooktop is a minimum placement of 650mm above your cooktop, and 605 for an electric hob. Including induction. Hope this helps. Our new home got handed over to us by builder just before Christmas (21/12/2018), We are still waiting for under mount rangehood to be installed into our kitchen, The house was delivered with no rangehood as the hole they provided was to close to accommodate rangehood selection, After a couple of visits we have been told that cupboards are to be removed and replaced, Which we are still waiting for as the 'cabinetmaker is very busy', My inquiry is to see whether there is a building code reference/link I can forward on to them to hurry the process up, Also concerned that insurance would not cover our new house if there happened to be a fire Thanks in advance, We look forward o nay help, Regards, Ken and Nadia Buxton...See MoreNeed help for my kitchen
Comments (9)i would fill in the space above the dishwasher with cabinets, to balance the look. i would even consider swapping out that rangehood for a slide out built in one, and make that entire wall cabinetry around the window. As you would lose all your top cupboards if you remove the wall in between, you will most likely need additional storage. also, i think that building it all in, will actually streamline the look, as the rangehood does look a bit squashed in between the fridge and the window. i like isellev's idea of taking out the wall, but bookending with storage pillars. Very functional, and would look great i believe. you could even plan them so they can have some storage on both sides, so then they look nice from the living side, as well as being functional. good luck....See MoreNeed help with where to put my kitchen!
Comments (5)Looks like you have set yourself a challenge. What are your goals with opening up the space? Are you limited with moving plumbing etc. by slab? Have you considered stove with under bench oven in central island bench with overhead range hood. Leave sink/fridge layout as is. Can you then fit narrow cupboards for dishes etc. along the wall of the meals area where aircon is. Having some measurements for window location/size would be helpful. Hopefully this will bump your post and some designers will chip in their ideas......See More- 5 years agolast modified: 5 years ago
