Comments (11)Hello Karly, It looks like you may be planning a change in wall colour - I would go ahead and do this then think about the curtains. You may be able to have a bolder colour which helps have a dramatic feel or go lighter - Resene have a good range of whites which can be done in double or triple strength. Check out his link as it gives you a range of looks using neutrals.http://www.resene.co.nz/ebooks/HabitatPlus06/index.html?page=1 The latest Resene habitat on line home of the week shows some interesting options if you are interested in blue / green/ grey hues such as 'Inside Back' http// habitatbyresene.co.nz/lee-kristin-modern-barn-life Curtains should hang full height and puddle a little on the floor but not too long as you have an access way with the door and need to safely walk past the other window. Pelmets are unnecessary and won't give the softness required but an inverted pleat heading gives a tailored finish with the same effect. Look at a natural linen look sheers as real linen tends to rot and is more expensive. You are better with a cheaper polyester linen look as it is more durable - and less likely to shrink if washed. Traditional curtains are more likely to date depending on the pattern. All the best....See MoreWindow Furnishings Blinds
Comments (2)Luxaflex is a premium product and in my experience will support their product if you have issues. Look carefully at the parts that wear out such as any pull cables to see how they compare. It is the mechanism that fails first on cheaper roller blinds, so consider how long you are going to live in your home and how much you will use them. Remember that cheap things are not good, good things are not cheap. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls...See MoreWindow Furnishing - sliding stacker door with highlights
Comments (18)For curtains, the best option would be for ceiling mounted track, curved at the corner. The stackback area to the left is tight to fully open the curtains off the window area. A possible solution (as you look to be in the middle of renovations), if there are no utilities in the last 20-30cm of the bulkhead to the exterior(?) wall, you maybe still at the stage to alter this to provide a pocket area for curtains to stackback into. There are other considerations for an area that poses a few challenges and obtaining expert advice now could provide better solution that require some input from your builder. Comments (4)So many options and pros and cons for all: Drop outdoor blinds on the verandah edge to block the western sun then you could probably get away with soft sheers - lovely in a bedroom. Day/night blinds - can be a bit austere for a bedroom in my opinion You could look at zebra blinds - best of both but it depends how much blockout you need. You can always add a curtain over them Good luck with your choice - it took me nearly 10 years to work out the best solution for our house!!...See Morea b
