Help, my front door doesn't scream 'Welcome'!
Comments (42)Replace the front door and joining window with a set of double doors - either solid oak or just classic glossy black. They will add value to your home, personality and will make life easier when it comes to moving in or out large sized pieces of furniture that can be a headache if you tried to fit through a single door. The path to the front door can either be painted a colour of your own choice or even paved, while I would also add a border of either pebbles or flowers (e.g. Lavender, Geraniums, Agapanthus, what ever suits your fancy ) down the right hand side of the path to add colour and a visual aspect to your front yard. Make sure your whole front yard looks neat, clean and tidy. If possible, employ the services of a landscape artist. Though highly expensive, he or she may give some quality advice in how to capitalise on your existing garden....See MoreGarage Door & Window Frames Colour Selection
Comments (2)So far you have five colours for your exterior. I'd stick with one of those for the door and window frames. Hogs Bristle 1/4 is a nice neutral....See MorePaint front door black??
Comments (17)mrjudsonjames - Hardware is from Tradco and they sell through retailers, not direct. You can find them online and they can direct you to where you can look at their products. The cheapest retailer I found was Schotts Emporium. Just before doing my external doors, I changed all the internal doors and kept the existing chrome hardware except for new hinges. This was even though I didn't like them, but I was reluctant to add the expense. Now liking this new hardware on my external doors, I'm exploring getting the same handle on a rose plate and then powder coating my hinges! purplewombat - Thank you for the Bunnings link and the photos you've done! That visual is perfect. I can't quite figure out how to use it myself so might have to give them a call. If you've got any tips that would be great. I wouldn't be adverse to red, but with the green roof and guttering I feel it would be too Christmassy....See MorePaint or stain front door on the internal side?
Comments (9)I agree with ctwalker, if you paint the inside of your front door white it will blend with the inside of your house especially as the door is in your lounge. On the outside a stain will look great and if you keep a path going to your front door people won't have trouble wondering where to go. All the work your doing looks fantastic keep up the good work :)...See MoreT M
