What about choosing a floor lamp to go in the right hand corner instead of it being on the tv unit? I'd say it would create a bit of glare if watching tv with it being there so that's my reasoning, I'm also a bit of a symmetry freak and it looks a bit unbalanced.. If it's an informal space where the kids hang out why not some bright accessories? The colours in the artwork could be a starting point- aquas/ lime green etc. maybe some chevron or bold pattern on the cushions?

Hi there. If your focus is on selling the home, you need to remove some of the furniture in this room. I would start by removing the desk. The armchairs should be placed apart from the lounge - probably where the desk is currently for one and the other on the other side of the TV (if there is room - it is hard to tell from the photos). This will give the room a more inviting feel. I would put a natural fibre cream floor rug under the lounge and across to the TV cabinet. Remove all of the small frames on the wall and opt for a large artwork on that wall - I would probably go for blues - navy through to demin through to duck egg for the artwork and accessories (cushions etc).
