External Fence Colours - HELP

So we have decided to landscape the backyard.

We have a nice levelled area and now struggling to pick a colour scheme that is modern but will also tie into the existing house colours. We have repainted the existing colourbond fence to Surfmist and painted the new blockwork wall Tranquil Retreat. We think something needs to change! The new levelled area will be artificial turf, but we are thinking the existing concrete path and driveway be painted a charcoal. We plan to replace the existing timber fencing with the same colourbond colour (maybe not Surfmist).

In hindsight, it just doesnt match the rest of the house. We can try Classic Cream fencing. Any tips?

Your correct , the colours that you have painted do not compliment your home. If you want to use the tranquil retreat, and make your home more 'modern', I suggest repainting all the red trim on your home and fencing in a charcoal colorbond paint. Look at your neighbours roof in the photo. This compliments the fence colours more than the burgundy. If not happy, with changing your home, yes repaint all fencing and wall in classic cream.

Thanks for your feedback. I think repaiting the classic cream out will be a bigger exercise! All the window frames are also classic cream.

So Im thinking we change to fence colour to classic cream. But will the tranquil retreat (or another grey) still look ok? Keeping in mind the floors will be dark.

I just googled & found this site, which quotes cost of R2.5 75mm. there are other suppliers as well. What was quoted to you for cost of roof installation, and was it itemised so you can see exactly what thickness the foil-backed insulation builder will use? I'm guessing the thinner (lower R factor). So, the new quote should reflect a credit for the cost of previous insulation, since it won't be used, then cost of thicker insulation added. Does that make sense? check the Colorbond Websites for some combination with Wallaby and Surfmist and congratulations on doing the painting before installation and make sure you paint all four sides for best protection

Hi Hamish, these planters are very cool! Great potential here. - from what I can see; your home has brown and red tones, it depends on the look you are trying to achieve - however if you were aiming to integrate these planters into the existing colour pallet I would go for something with orange, brown, or red undertones - I know orange sounds frightening! Bare in mind that colours look very different when under direct sunlight, or dark shadows cast by trees etc.. Before painting it's always wise to do a test on a piece of thick paper or cardboard; see how it looks in morning light, afternoon sun, dim light at dusk, and so on... What is the light like at your place? If your home doesn't get much sun I would go for a lighter colour (lighter greys with brown undertones) to bounce off the sunlight that does reach it. A darker colour (browns, oranges) would add impact, a focal point, and would boast the greenery, as the natural colours from your plants would be intensified against a darker backdrop. There seems to be speckles of black in the bricks. So grey a Try deluxe woodland Grey on gutters and fascias and eaves and suede nouveau trim on the side timbers and windows the latter is a cream colour. These may be old colours I used them 10 years ago.

What about mixing the posts and colourbond panel colours? I.e. posts in classic but panel in surfmist?

Classic cream and surf mist are completely different base colours. At the moment, count how many different colours you have in your back yard. I would repaint the surfmist and tranquil retreat to classic cream. Add your green turf, then sit back and relax. Unless you are prepared to change the colour of the burgundy, of your home, to be modern. It is what it is.
