We both have such ingrained opposing ideas, made worse by the fact we've both brought items from previous relationships. He has heavy looking dark furniture from when he lived in Colorado, and mine is light and very modern from living in California. Now we live in a Mediterranean climate here, and OH can't adjust to that, plus the fact that he has never lived in a large home, and wants to maintain that cosy, warm [cluttered] small home feeling. It's fortunate that we still love each other despite our differences. After all, it's just 'stuff', and we have more important things to worry bout with his big C taking him away in pieces - 3 operations so far as it keeps moving around his body....See Moreneed help for my outdoor space

Comments (52)Unfortunately Erina, your best bet sometimes in this industry is to cut your losses and if it important enough to rectify, outsource a separate contractor/company to come in and re-do it at your own expense.....you just have to look at it as part of the cost of your project.......many people will have stories of deciding pay twice (sometimes more!) to eventually achieve the satisfactory results - ultimately you have to live with it long term and sometimes it's worth it to get it right....ultimately only you can make that decision one way or the other........it's not necessarily right or fair, but unfortunately these are the risks (& hard lessons) of building Best of luck Erina, PD :)...See Moreplease help me ‘warm up’ my space
Comments (3)You have a lovely sized room. As commented you could paint the walls white. Also consider a soft warm grey, Resene Quarter Truffle (NZ colour). The orange and textured rug and mirror warm the space. I would definitely look at a navy blue as an accent - throw, cushions. A massive artwork with lots of colour would look amazing on the large wall to the left of the fireplace. Curtains look more "beige" but I think they will look okay with the soft grey walls but will also make the floor blend better and become less noticeable. Good luck. An amazing space....See MoreMartine Martinson
