Color scheme for front exterior house??
Hi there, We have red bricks, black door and roof and a woodlands grey portico. We would like to paint the garage door and white upstairs a different color. We have thought about painting both
Dune (colorbond) , any suggestions who be so appreciated. Thanks :)

Comments (6)Dark grey roof. You could keep the windows neutral which would be subtle and clean but you could also accent them if you wanted them to stand out more and match the rod colour... Another option you could consider is dark roof and a lighter shade of grey for the window frames... I have attached a few quick photos sorry I've done this from my phone so not the best.. Comments (62)apennameandthata i don't know... vertical is more shed like style, while we still have a colonial style base and veranda. Dust will be an issue here (although its not so bad in that particular spot on a river, good protection from trees) but pressure wash will be regular practice anyway. Thanks for all your suggestions and I will take all on board, especially sandstone ideas. I don't this I want this house to look pretentious, but how can I describe that, I am after some subtle "wow" factor or something a bit different, but it must look like we knew what we are doing and YES, I want it to look like high quality build and not a transportable house or kit home. The house rectangle is so simple that I worry it may have that boring factor in its looks and that is why I am looking for some ideas. My problem is a tendency to overthink but I hope I will find a balance at some point :) At this stage I think: galvanised tin everywhere (or that zincalum), rusty steel posts, aluminum windows with timber look, sandstone features around main door and sandstone chimney. Comments (7)Hi Melanie yes this lovely brick colour does cause some grief for homeowners when wanting to update colour scheme without rendering.... !!!First of all I would recommend you keep the downpipes blended with the bricks rather than highlight them. Secondly I agree that charcoal grey would be two harsh against your brick colour so maybe look at a three tone colour scheme to breakdown the harshness of a dark colour against the light bricks. For example, dark on gutters and possibly on some smaller trims and mid tone on fascia and the vertical timbers.... obviously the 3rd colour is the brick colour......See More

4 years agoHi Karen, agree with the above comments, the colour scheme that you now have looks great, maybe some tall pots at front of rendered columns as suggested would look good, or even just one gorgeous planter between door and window would look really stylish, refreshing the planting at front would really highlight your beautiful water feature .

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoMy suggestion would be to re paint/render the portico from woodland grey. Use a grey that compliments the window frames. Maybe dulux Miller Mood. Then white shutters as suggested. I like the white and brick work. Maybe even a red front door, to add to the wonderful brick colour.

4 years agoAn example of what I suggested with matching the window frames with the color of the cladding and painting the garage door to match (we painted ours without any problems, just tricky painting in between the panels),. This cutie by Breathe Architects

4 years agoThisis a very rough idea, the photo is not square so it makes it hard to fill.
I suggest changing the dark grey to a sand colour for a softer look
