Inspiring Minimalist Bachelor Pad - Before & After
Still Space Architecture
This heritage renovation included rationalising the existing layout and the introduction of a lightwell courtyard to bring daylight deep into the terrace.
Our client came to us wanting to create more of a minimalist and light filled environment to his current terrace, with a pared back aesthetic. As a busy young professional with a tight travel schedule, he instilled a lot of trust in us to run through the renovation process without him being around, even working closely with council due to the home being in a heritage zone.

The old staircase was dark and included steep stairs, the new stair transforms not only the entry to the home but the flow of the entire space. The stair provides a sculptural feature with a skylight added to wash light down into the living spaces below.

A new compact and efficient kitchen was added overlooking a peaceful tiled and landscaped small courtyard. The courtyard window opens up allowing you to sit within the courtyard, with the inclusion of a hidden sliding mosquito screen, allows mosquito free ventilation. This also brings natural light flooding into the kitchen, reflecting off the gloss surfaces, making the space feel larger . A palette of calm colours and natural materials is used to define the spaces.
