Hi Barry, I personally don't think the large blank space lends itself to a piece of art. It's up too high and contrary to your thoughts, it wouldn't be the feature you'd hope for it to be. Besides, the money you spend on a piece large enough, would be better spent on a smaller, higher quality piece mounted at the correct height (eye-level) that would compliment another part of your home. Getting back to the blank space, have you considered using a timber veneer for the wall cabinets? Something that would work with your bench, and then you could use the same veneer as wall panels to continue above the blank space over the cupboards. Perhaps you could even incorporate led strip lighting to give it a little more wow factor. Timber is great because it adds a layer of warmth to the polished concrete and dark cabinets. consider very dark walls like navy, dark grey, rich caramel or deep rust colours with eaves and fascias white, downpipes same as walls and gutters a mid range colour to match the dark walls (btw some new paints are supposed to have heat reflecting qualities even in the darker colours)

There are so many things to consider, for example the orientation of the house is it a North facing yard which will attract lots of natural sunlight, where South facing is shaded and colours will appear deeper / darker. What colour are the gutters and fascias and roof? Aluminium windows are these pearl white? As you probably know there are many shades of white, that have very different undertones, some throw red, blue or yellow. From the samples you have painted you appear to be drawn to a "greige" combination of grey and beige a smart colour for todays exteriors so certainly on trend. A lovely greige I have just recommend for a client is a Deluxe colour called Calf skin, paired with natural white trims and a grey pebble large garage roller door has come up beautifully.
