Hi All, It sounds like tumeric and grease are the worst culprits for staining. We are looking to put the Cloudburst in our kitchen as our island and backsplash, but I'm very nervous. I love to cook and host. I also LOVE the look of this stone and would like to make it work if we can. Are there any bakers on this thread that have experience with these countertops? If you are rolling out dough or baking with greasy dough, how has that experience been? What if you get butter/oil on it? Any tips? Do you cover the counter before doing your baking etc.? I imagine beet juice would also be a nightmare?

The orange modular is a huge statement but you recognize that there is nothing to “connect the pieces together” a simple abstract art piece showcasing the orange, grey and white , black will “Tie” your theme together and place it just about the lounge on the large white wall.. remember not that small so think scale! Your lounge is large so I think a portrait size piece ( hung vertically not landscape) approximately 300mm above your lounge would be a perfect addition. If that is too hard for you to imagine perhaps a bowl on the coffee table with hints of orange grey and white to connect the elements.. Your missing a degree of “softness” some texture so rather than cushions ( which I don’t think ever really work with a leather lounge) perhaps a textured throw combining your colour scheme.. no solid colours... Just a suggestion is the art piece below! If you can’t imagine print a couple of images from Pinterest on A3 paper do you can see if you like the style of painting!

The sketch is a bit rough not as professional as yours Oklouise :) I understand there may be some issues with space in the Family Living, but I encourage you to take all these ideas to an architect. They can accurately tell you if it is going to work out well. Is this an investment property or a property you wish to stay for a longer period/lifetime? It is important to ask these questions as the last thing you want to do is over capitalise and not recover any profits if you were wanting to sell it after 6 months/1-3 years. With kitchen renovation ideas, the galley style kitchen is the new in. Gone are the days where L-shaped kitchens were a thing. There are other kitchen configurations, but the galley orientation is what I see frequently in newly built display homes. All the best with the renovation :)

Hi Sarah, I would go with a large rug in the lounge- if you can get all four feet of the couch on it as well as the tv cabinet it will create a clear ‘lounge room’ zone. This will be a costly rug due to the size. You can choose a piece of carpet that you like and have it cut and edged to create a customised rug if your own. Adding a large pendant over the dining table will mark this as another separate zone. I am personally not a fan of pendant lights over the island, I just think they add clutter to the space and have been overused - I’m sure many will disagree. You can have another row of down lights over the island if you need task lighting there and add led lighting under your overheads at the back as an accent light that will create a soft wash of light down the splash back. Finally ( even though you didn’t ask!) the white powerpoint to the front of your island stands out agains the black and works against it, swapping this for a black outlet will help make it disappear.
