Need help renovating bathroom
Comments (8)Great room. The paintwork, bulkhead and black aluminum window look contemporary, so updating the colour scheme will completely renew this bathroom. I would remove the tiles on the wall of the vanity, including the bath area, and actually have a glazier I stall a mirror from the bench top right across the room, thus negating the need for tiling at all, and just lengthening the space and light. Then all you need to worry about are the bath surround tiles. Luckily there are loads of options, from DIY to designer and many in between. I saw a tile product on houzz called xlight that can be applied right over existing tiles, as long as they are level and secure. There is a stunning architectural range including concrete looking tiles and even a marble. Carrara is the most expensive fit out choice but number one of designers, xlite have a tile which would tile tour bath front in one piece as would your side and rear wall, in around two sheets! Contact them, then all you need to do is replace a vanity, or I would have a joiner come out to quote on hand laminating the top onsite. Or consider just replacing or building a base draw vanity beneath this while retaining the bench top, you could tile this also in the marble look for ultimate luxury, and go with a timber veneer looking product for the suspended drawers below. Floor tiling is the only thing to do then....See MoreNeed help for my newly renovated basement
Comments (21)The space looks a bit cold & clinical at the moment. Add sheer curtains to the window from ceiling to floor this wall Add some drama and also help to soften the look. I don't think the corrugated iron works use timber instead . A rug will better define the space perhaps with pops of colour like yellow , orange or red this will add some warmth. Prints on the wall , large pot plants side tables and floor lamps . In the billiard area it would look good to add a pendant lamp over the table you can buy ones specifically for billiard tables . More pops of colour also a couple of occasional chairs . You could also add more timber here to give more ambiance. Happy decorating ....See MoreRenovating Novice Needs Help
Comments (15)Like your choice of grey. Is the house well insulated? If not, you said you didn't want to sheet the ceiling rafters but it would help with cooling inside if that is an issue. I did a similar house in Mt Tambourine, replaced the first metre of timber decking that had been weather affected and then clad the underside in corrugated iron to let the water runoff but keep the ground floor verandah dry. You will have to get an engineer to check out the load bearing before you replace decking with tiles. Then the tiles will need more cleaning than a timber deck. Don't paint your brick, do all your improvements and then take stock. Painting means creating work for yourself or employing a painter. Every time I render I put an oxide in the cement, its fiddly but the results are worth it, never have to touch it again. Try to make a feature of your Front Door as it is a nondescript at the moment. Two nice pots with plants or hanging baskets either side, paint the door in a contrast colour to make it stand out. Good luck and enjoy the journey....See MoreNeed help with Ensuite Bathroom renovation
Comments (19)Think of recessing the Mirrored shaving cabinets as being recessed the same as the Niches in the shower wall, simply they remove/cut out the plaster board to the size/position and shape and frame that up with timber. The plaster board on the back of the recess belongs to the room behind and is the wall for that room, so makes no difference to your WIR. Just a thought if you go for the recessed wall cistern, when my brother inlaw did theirs the Architect suggested that they have a discreet panel screwed back over it, not fixed and plastered so that if any problems developed, Leaks etc it would be easy to access cheers...See MoreAustere Hamlet
