Hi Amanda, the hexagon tiles on the floors will absolutely look great too and if that's the dream, then go for it. Personally, I would also try to run the hex tiles up and over the bath hob if your budget allows. A light grey grout (instead of white) and also sealing the grout properly will help to maintain. I like both vanities, they are very similar, and would probably go with the one that offers the most drawer space as there's not a lot of storage in the bathroom (speaking of which, add a niche in the shower area if you can). Also bear in mind the toilet roll holder and make sure it can be fixed to the side of the vanity despite the drawer (as you can't fix to the other side of the toilet which I presume will have a glass shower screen). Lastly, I know you've already mentioned white, but have you considered timber (or timber-look) panels for the drawer fronts? It's just a suggestion, but it will bring some warmth into the modern space and may also be another way to tie in with the federation style of the home. I would definitely keep your taps and sink, but replace/go over the top of the bench top! It would be nice to price replacing that shower door - change to a frameless or semi frameless piece of glass. Change out all towel rails and such wall fixtures - you can get good chrome looking budget ones at Bunnings that will last three years. Personally, I would definitely paint the vanity doors white gloss - a 2-pak look. You might find the only available options for going over your current floor (other than tiles), are pretty ugly and I wouldn't trust tile paint on the floor it has been known to wear badly. If you don't mind a very small step up into the bathroom, you can tile straight over the top of those tiles, Go to a tile outlet place and you will get very nice tiles in the small quantity you need for less than $100, and the tiling job shouldn't take long or cost much. I have done exactly that myself and I would look into that if you really hate the floor tiles. If the wall tiles are cream and not white, I would paint them with white tile paint. If you do change the floor at all, I would get tile paint in a similar tone - say a stone or grey colour or something similar to the floor colour you go with and use that tile paint to paint carefully over the dark brown stripes in those wall tiles - or better still - try white tile paint over them first and see how they look. I would definitely be painting all that mission brown trim and the inside of the door white if it were me as it will modernise and freshen the space right up, but if you really want to stick to a timber stain, then yes, I would go much lighter than it currently is. Definitely paint the vanity doors in my opinion though if you want to update the whole look in there. Would be best to get rid of that piece of timber between the shower and the door too! Thanks so much to everyone, I really appreciate your help. It is finally done. It looks great and we had a few little hiccups. It took about 4 weeks longer than they said; Vanity Caesarstone top was nothing like the sample so that was replaced; Stegbar sliding shower screen glass door didn't have holes drilled so that was delayed a week and mix up in communication added another 2 days; when carpenter removed tiles etc as prep, a lot of junk went down the drain so it overflowed (lesson there for him to cover drains). The tiler I insisted on using did a great job but hard to get the communication going between the facilitator, the water proofer and the tiler. I got the lights from Temple and Webster (12 volt), I just need to get a different lamp to match the others (2 are bright white and 1 is warm). I am very happy with the finished product - see attached panorama shot (I just need to put up the white wooden blinds). Thanks again.

with such generous spaces it would be possible to have a wider tall linen storage at the end of the shower and have the option of an extra wide vanity cabinet with storage underneath and consider space for an underbench washer or a stacked washer dryer to make a fully self contained granny flat...choice of doors would depend on how the rooms are used but i would choose hinged doors into the toilet and bathroom (cheaper labour to install, quieter, easier handles to use, better for moisture and sound control and the back of the door is an ideal spot for a rack or hooks for clothes and extra towels ... the door from the hall into the vanity area could be any types but depends how likely the door is to be closed but cheapest to install would be hinged, then external slider then cavity slider but always consider solid core doors for a better quality result and love the look of the doors in your photo but always good to have an idea of costs for each door for comparison as it can be a big investment when you may need many doors but i have no problem some doors being decorative and some cheaper plain doors but always prefer solid core doors and hopefully there will be some other suggestions for tiles and colour schemes
