What colour would you recommend for the splashback if we're going glass? also we might be tenant in the property, will glass be okay there? (also.... how much more expensive is thus going to be that tile? I have no idea on costing here :S) Also I think I may have oversold the messyness of my cooking haha I'm not that bad but I do worry about discolouration of grout.

Great job on the kitchen and I agree with some of the former comments - a glass splash back would look good and the silver seems a good choice. If you decide to go with tiles I would suggest a White Tile with a smattering of Black and Grey markings with the colors prominent not subdued. I wouldn't think Brown but why not experiment with a few different colors and see how they look and in conjunction with other colors until you come up with a match. Only a small area but nice to get it just right first go. Good luck

The benchtop in the kitchen is the hero piece. Go neutral so you don't draw attention away from the benchtop into the butlers pantry. The splashback is usually well hidden in a butlers pantry by things on the benchtop. You have enough happening already without adding yet another feature. We had a glass splashback for over 10 years. I loved how easy to clean it was and it had a simple minimalist feel. The previous house had tiles- you will always have the issue of cleaning the grout and at some point I always had a stain I couldn’t get out - not sure if they have different grout now but I think at some point there will be a tomato sauce or saffron splash that you can’t get rid of.
