Ideas for exterior - brick mid-century built home
Comments (43)Australia has nice examples of painted and rendered Art Deco homes. If it was a different kind of brick I would say keep it, but I think painting/rendering would really brighten the place. I love the windows. Although all pics here don't exactly match your style, they are all of that era. As mentioned in above comments, there are mix of landscaping styles that suit from conifer/gravel/grass to cottage rose garden to an Australian native garden. Do what reflects you and how much time you have for your garden....See MoreWhat Colour Should I Paint my Exterior Bricks?
Comments (37)Unless you have the money to update everything else to better complement the bricks, painting them will give you a much more updated look. Over the past 18mths I’ve been working on the front and landscape of my current house, including painting the bricks and it has made the world of difference! I’ve attached a before and after photo! Comments (9)I think the house looks beautiful as is, don't think the carport overwhelming at all, paint front door black as suggested, black light fitting, get advice on porch tiles for repair or replace, plant viburnum hedge (emerald lustre) shiny lush foliage under window, a row of ornamental pears along neighbours side, underplant with box or continue viburnum hedge for a designer look, standard ficus hilli either side of door in beautiful pots would look great, yout daughter has a beautiful house...See MoreWant to keep my red bricks, what colours for the exterior!
Comments (21)Suggest rather than hanging g plants that you plant climbers eg a grapevine or bougainvillea into a half wine barrel or into other large pots or elsebreak up the concrete around the car port posts so plant a climber. A pandorea would be nice.Re earlier comment : forget nasturtiums unless for pots of annual colour as they are short living annuals only. You need sturdy perennial climbers to grow over and around the car port to soften it. Replace the white balustrade with something modern and place some lArge modern pot plants with large greenery on the balcony also to soften it. I would suggest a warm cream in place of the stark white to blend with the red brick. They greys and charcoals eg monument are verycookie cutter and a current trend that we are all heartily sick of. Using them will date the house very quickly....See MoreUser
