Kitchen Design, Plan Advice Please
Comments (10)Thank you to you all for your comments and feedback :-) Oklouise - i agree, not much benchspace which i didnt like. I really, really want a big pantry as ive lived with a bottom corner cabinet as my pantry for the last 7 years and its been painful! Thanks for taking the time to rework the plan. Siriuskey - thanks for the compliments! The 3ds are just done in the free version of sketchup, but my partner is a professional draftsman so he has some expertise! The cooktop is just 600 wide. We love the french doors, and know they are probably not the most practical but i think they will give the place the real beach house feel we want. Dr Retro - thank you for your constructive criticism. We have totally reworked the layout, your comments were very practical :-) We do currently just have a single bowl sink in there, unfortunately without putting the sink out on the island i think thats all we can fit. I am trying to squeeze a lot in there.. Currently live with a single bowl and find it ok and also getting a dishwasher so i think ill survive. See below for new ideas roughly planned last night.....Definitely more conventional. Again, any comments appreciated...The dishwasher is between sink/cooktop and there are drawers/cupboards in the inside of the island/peninsula......See MoreLove some advice on kitchen plans
Comments (7)Thanks Kate, I was getting rid of the curved wall in kitchen- creating a straight wall (hoping to shove a vacuum cupboard in the space created. The bottle holder doesn't hold enough - so I was thinking of getting rid of it for larger cupboards and making the island wider - cupboards on the other side. I don't think there is enough pantry, even if I use drawers for some items and am concerned about how the pantry doors will open in the space. We have an eight-seater dining table in dining area but the family space is a bit odd as it has double doors to outside living/pool. Thank you so much for taking the time to look at this. Comments (15)Thank you @oklouise for your detailed response and proposing a plan! Just a couple of responses and questions regarding what you've mentioned: - Agreed that we need a proper plan in place before doing any big kitchen renos. I've been doing research all day and have better understanding of how complex the process can be. I think a complete DYI kitchen will be out of the question for us, so we will shop around for builders and a cabinet makers to get a better feel of the costs involved - Agree with leaving the 70cm wall, at least on the side where the fridge is. Spoke to my partner and we will amend our plans - You mentioned that you like the stove location but think the kitchen is too shallow to have the stove and kitchen there. Can I ask why? I've seen a couple of examples where stove & island is 1 meter apart, which seemed to work. - We unfortunately won't be able to have the dining table in front of the stove, as we won't have enough space to accommodate quite a large couch & TV in the remaining living space :( I'm still gravitating towards having an island, as I prefer some separation between kitchen & living space Cheers, Xenia...See MoreFloor plan help and advice please
