Hubby and I have stayed in Venice twice, once with our young children. We took a vaporetto to Murano to visit the glassworks. Fascinating to watch the men work. The kids each were given a beautiful clear glass horse figurine, which all these years later they still treasure and display. On our last trip, we visited a small shop run by siblings. We purchased the last of a collection of seven pendant light globes their father had blown for the shop. They were all the same shape but different colours of glass. We purchased them for the new modern house we planned to build the following year or so. We are pleased and grateful to have such unique, handmade and time-honoured beauty embellish the spaces in our home, and the lights always interest guests and we then have a story to tell.

The vanity doors and basin are subtly highlighted and it produces a very calming, aesthetically pleasing showpiece. Secondly, I think the colour palette works well with the Moroccan tiles you have chosen. The darker trim contained within each tile piece helps with the fusion. Your choice should be determined by how high the bowl is above the vanity to ensure adequate clearance between the outlet and the bowl so you can wash your hands. Is the bowl recessed into the vanity or sitting on top of the vanity bench? Always think of the practicalities before aesthetics as no matter how beautiful it is, if it is mismatched, too high, or too low for your vanity basin you will hate it. Wow, you must have a big bathroom to fit all of that luxe stuff in! Most 1950s houses have very compact bathrooms with tiny showers, minimal vanity and small baths. A double vanity, a walk-in-shower and a free-standing bath all take up a lot more room than what is normally allowed for in a 1950's bathroom so I hope you have it carefully planned. These items often look luxe as they are in bigger bathrooms and the space around them actually contributes to the luxe look. Trying to squeeze these items into a small room doesn't look luxe, it just looks try-hard. Make sure you allow enough room behind your freestanding bath to swing a mop for cleaning, and that your towel rails are more than 1800mm from your shower rose, unless your new buyer likes soggy towels! 1500mm is adequate for a double vanity, but it depends on the size of each bowl. A pair of smaller bowls will give the illusion of more benchspace. An 1800mm vanity has a better proportion if you have the space. The smallest I have seen is a 1030mm wide one from Ikea, with little benchspace, but I reckon it would feel too crowded with two average sized people using at the same time, so hardly worth while.
