A large mirror above the hall console will add some light and is always a good idea in an entry so that guests can check/fix their appearance if the weather was bad on the way to your home. A light coloured entry floor rug would help lighten the area and also catch any small stuff on shoes that may scratch your beautiful timber floors. You could install an attractive glass pendant light on the far left as you enter or alternatively sconces either side of the mirror or a table lamp could be placed on the console table. Once the mirror is in place you can decide if you need a bright large piece of art for the opposite wall which will be reflected in the mirror.

Like you said, you obviously have a light issue in the room due to the addition of the corner ceiling light and the need for sheers. Maybe paint the ceiling white. Definitely replace sheers with white plantation shutters and add your beautiful chosen pendant lights over the table. As the table is long maybe you can have the light above the window (and if there is a third one further along) moved in to have them over the table. If the pendant is very large have only one or two and remove the extra light/s altogether. You could also possibly add two wall sconces to the wall opposite the windows depending on the overall room. If you physically can't electrically fit lights on the walls now consider battery candles in the glass flutes. This would give lovely mood lighting. Have the white plantation shutters with no additional curtains but have a very large striped rug either the same red as in your photo with creamy beige to blend with lighter wall; or a light blue and white/ creamy beige rug. The light blue stripe would give a relaxed sense to the room. You may need to have these rugs made up. On the table, change to a larger silver tray and look to improving its content holders to silver and glass, light blue china and one low wide rounded fresh flower vase in silver. For dinner, remove your tall vase of roses and replace with a couple of large glass fluted candle holders with silver base rims with pillar candles either side of the tray. Best wishes.

Hi everyone, I'd like to thank you all for your input. Have been a busy spring and summer, but now I'm back and able to focus on the living room. Couple of things have been done/removed since lately: 1. Leather lounge set: I've (luckily) sold the leather lounge set - absolutely great piece with great quality, but not my taste at all. It made a world difference to the living room and even dear hubby, who liked the set, did acknowledge that the difference of less furnitures is great. 2. The rug 3. The white cabinet 4. New curtains with pelmet I love the pelmet although it's old style and yes, the curtains are too short! Will amend this at later stage :) These changes have made a huge impact on the room. Also, I'm also open to change the dining table with chairs for another nice option in an attempt to make this more interesting/cozy/inviting. So, these are the only things that I won't be able to change (we may (note on may) also move house by the end of this year/early next year) # Blinds # Colour of trims and built-in bookcase # Camel back sofa - I'm happy to reupholster it though and change the fabric. This will cost $2000 but I think it's worth it since they are really comfortable and are of good quality. I'd like to integrate the white frame with the gold poster in the design - an idea is to place 3x posters on the biggest wall of the air conditioner. I'm aware that a brown frame may suit the gold poster better, but I'm so tired of the colour brown at this moment. --------- So, I now feel I'm able to adjust as per your suggestions and recommendations much easier now. Appreciate every response and idea (And sorry for the mess of papers on the desk and floor! We're busy professionals and sometimes I have to let my husband have his creative space despite my OCD when it comes to decluttering and keeping it tidy)

A person standing at the sink needs space to stand in....don’t put the toilet so close to the sink. You need storage under the counter...drawers and doors need to be opened for access.....don’t put the toilet so close to the vanity cabinet. If you both will use the sinks and mirror at the same time you need to allow enough room for arms-up-elbows-out for two. If you don’t do grooming at the same time, one good sink will allow more space for separate storage. Don’t forget good lighting: good sconces on the mirror wall AND at least four recessed lighting cans. The ceiling lighting will also reflect light off the mirror onto your faces. Be sure you add a good exhaust fan which vents odors and excess moisture to the outside through the roof or wall.
