Fence Line "Garage" Roller Door

Hi Houzz Lovers,,, (me included)

Has anyone seen or know about a roller door that is also painted (or otherwise aesthetically pleasing) on the inside (which will better fit into the backyard landscaping.

I have what you call a fence line roller door install requirement , but I was wondering if I could get a prettier roller door (normally they are painted grey on the inside) or paint it perhaps (without voiding the warranty)?

to avoid a problem with the warrantee you need to discuss with the door manufacturer and get their approval in writing but ask if they have a service to include a different colour for the inside of the roller door

asked B&D and Gliderol .... they said, you can have any colour that you like, as long as its grey! ha! I was thinking maybe a roller door will just look poor when exposed in an outdoor setting (with other beautiful landscaping making it look shabby and out of place) ....looking for a photo to prove me wrong.

The stone is from YDL Stone called Kalala Shan. I wanted caesarstone calacatta nuvo but that would have broken the bank! This one still has that marble look I wanted but it's actually a warm base more off white, goes well with wood and the trouble I am having is which grey to put it with in the bathrooms! I was thinking light grey with off white...where did you get your tile from?

I don't think you can go wrong with a large timber door. The colour should contrast with the granite nicely and will even help soften all the colder surfaces. Have you seen any doors you like? https://www.houzz.com.au/products/front-doors-prbr0-br~t_10816

Hi Annb1997 I was also confused and intrigued about the two sided binds - so looked them up and found they differ from double rollers. A company called 'Blinds on the Net' supply them. They are called Zebra Blinds and this extract from their website explains how the operate "The cleverly designed Zebra Blind utilses a horizontal striped fabric with alternating Translucent or Block Out and Sheer stripes. Two layers of this fabric move independantly to create overlaping combinations or Translucent and Sheer or Block Out and Sheer. A simple but effective idea that allows high levels of light and privacy control with the one product."

Can you renovate outdoor roller shutters by painting them?

I do not know whether you could paint roller shutters, but, in my opinion, once you have painted your front fence in woodland grey, that would make a a big difference to street scape. There appears to be colour, similar to woodland grey in the shutters. If you then planted greenery in garden beds, this will soften the hardness of your stone garden. The roller shutters are not a 80/90 disaster, they are still very useful for insulation, noise reduction, sun reduction. That is why they were probably installed in the first place. Stand back once you have painted your fence, then re-evaluate. Good to read you are not painting or rendering your bricks. Just soften with planting.

those are fantastic, Thankyou for sharing. maybe roller doors are just plain ugly on inside face no matter what and I should pivot to something else.
I would need to build a carport there to accommodate a sectional garage door though. its just a fenceline opening at the moment.

Sorry, I do not know what you mean by a fence line opening.
No matter whether you install a roller door or panel door, I would think you still need a structure to attach the door and it's components to.
