Personally I love angles & splays, BUT they have to have purpose and be functional. Without seeing more surrounding context hard to comment but i can't help wondering why this all being so squeezed in one area, but then almost wasted/under-utilised space in-between the island and the table - it's like the pantry's boxing/internalising the kitchen which is not ideal.....either way I'd make sure that it flows and is functional and not awkward anywhere

Hi Leanne, when we renovated our kitchen we built in a butler's pantry and it's the best thing we ever did. We included a sink, long bench and heaps of open shelves and open front drawers. Everything is hidden away but is easy to find and get to, and the main kitchen stays tidy and clutter free in our open plan living area. If you can fit one in it is definitely the way to go.

Thank you all for your comments, suggestions, drawings and photos, I really appreciate the effort you all put in to help others on this great platform. I have come up with another idea (see photos below) that involves putting the fridge on the back wall of the kitchen behind cabinetry doors (yes, I know I was adamantly against this!) and bringing the door of the pantry forward to be in line with the front of the fridge. The pantry door would also be cabinetry and the section of wall. I don’t really know how to explain this, but the wall the kitchen backs on to would be bulk headed out so it continues in line with the pantry/fridge front all the way to the ceiling. This creates a sort of symmetry in the doors of the fridge and pantry being either side of the cooktop, but without the worry of having to line the rangehood up with the apex of the cathedral ceiling....I think. What do you think? P.S. Please excuse my shoddy hand drawn sketches.

It seems an unnecessary cost and it will upend the joy (and practicality) of walking into a WIP and seeing everything at a glance. If you have a door on the WIP, I would avoid internal doors, but I’d suggest it’s a preference - albeit one that will massively reduce your storage space. 1200mm wide is pretty narrow and you will be limiting yourself to narrow cupboards with doors (est 600mm deep with door open) on one wall only, compared with 300mm shelves possible on both walls for the same accessibility - literally half the storage space. Perhaps you would be better off extending the kitchen space and giving away the WIP. This may also allow you to add bench space to the kitchen and be more economical overall.
