This or that: Single sink or double sink?
Comments (18)I have a double right now (one large, one small) and I use the small one to drip dry anything that doesn't go in the dishwasher. It's convenient, but even so I'm planning to switch to a single large sink in the future. I haven't found any double sinks that I really like, but I will admit I haven't seen a great solution to drip drying pots and pans. I really do use that second sink a lot (even if I towel dry my pots, which I don't usually bother to do, I still have to have a place to put them until I've finished the dishes). Most dishracks I've seen are intended for plates and utensils, which I just put in the dishwasher. If I can find a good dishrack for pots and pans, then I will be very happy with a large single basin sink I think....See Moresingle sink in kitchen and double in butler's pantry??
Comments (8)Hi qlder, how funny that we had the same dilemma a few months ago... when I said to interior designer that butler's sink was too small (and it was miniature :/ ) she too suggested we swapped sinks by putting the double in the butler's pantry and the butler's sink in the kitchen... initially I thought great idea, but then I realised the whole point of designing an open plan kitchen was so I could be part of the action while in the kitchen, most of which time I spend at the sink... another point to consider is that if you have kids/teenagers, they're not going to bother going around to the butler's pantry and will just dump their dirty dishes at the nearest available sink, then you end up taking them to the bigger sink... I have seen display homes with double sinks in butler's pantry but then so was the dishwasher, and I note from your post that your dishwasher's in the kitchen so it would make more sense to me to have the double sink there as well... in the end we kept the double sink in the kitchen (personal pref & for reasons stated above) but as the butler's sink was way too small, we upgraded to a bigger 'laundry trough size' sink for washing pots and pans etc in the butler's pantry...See MoreDouble Kitchen Sinks
Comments (4)Would you consider a single bowl sink? I have a 72cm*40cm Franke sink and absolutely love it. Items that need to be hand washed such as roasting pans are much easier in a single bowl rather than a double bowl....See Moreprep space size single line kitchen with island
Comments (6)No it’s great. I can put all the mess behind me easily. You have space to left of sink to place your dirty dishes. To right of sink, incl any dish drainer is great to support cooking on stove. I have all my cutlery and crockery in island directly opp dishwasher. With 1200mm between I can open dishwasher and unload directly into drawers.I do like having my stove, air fryer and microwave all close as often using all 3. Hardly use my oven now I have air fryer. Perhaps because I really need a new oven….. that will come with my new kitchen if I ever get around to choosing bench and getting quotes....See MoreBeach Bathrooms
