Which entrance door to match window
Hi
We're currently putting in a gas strut awning window at the back of our old cottage and I'm a bit stuck on which door I should use next to the new window. I've already purchased this french glass clear panelled door
but am now thinking maybe I should go for one large glass panel like this one
as it might better match the look of the window, but I do really like the look of the panelled door.
The door and the window and the wall will all be painted in white once finished, the aim is to get as much light as possible into our previously dark kitchen.

Any advice would be most gratefully received, I have until Wednesday to let the builder know if I need to change the door and I won't sleep until then :0)

Comments (7)if you decide to have a wall hung toilet or towel rails on the toilet wall the cavity slider wall will need to be reinforced to support the weight and a wall hung toiler with inwall cistern will mean that the cavity slider would have to slide towards the vanity..Either hinged or cavity slider doors will be good in this situation although the hinged door has the useful option for hooks for clothes or an extra towel rail...btw consider moving the master bedroom entry door for a more generous entry into the bedroom...See MoreBlind for entry window?
Comments (33)Thanks oskuee. We have decided to go with obscure glass for the sidelight window as it is too narrow for a blind. For the window, we have chosen a screen roller blind to sit in the window recess so we still have a view outside, when we have it down, but people cannot see in when the lights aren’t on inside. We want a blind for privacy when we are not home, in which case the lights won’t be on. So best of both worlds - view and privacy. As for colour, we have decided to go with a Coal colour with Matt black base rail to give a contemporary look which looks great against the concrete and the rust front door. Happy with our choices. Comments (16)We have just installed a new door with sidelight using translucent double glazed glass. Pretty much complete privacy unless you are leaning against the glass. Lets in lots of diffused light but not the heat. I went to the manufacturers to see all the options, the tint does not allow as much light in so it depends on what you are after. Do consider which side to open to works best for you - for us opening to the left meant we could push the door all the way open without encroaching on another doorway in the entry. New doors replaced wooden french doors with clear panes, we had them covered with frosted film pretty soon after when we realised the privacy issue. This was ok but the film shrank after a few years and left a sticky edge that caught flies and bugs - not ideal. Good luck with your choices the idea you indicate looks great....See Moreoklouise
