to suancol......a 'yellow/pink based beige'? Having trouble trying to get my head around that colour and 'seeing' it in my mind's eye, suancol! If one had to mix it up....could it also be described as a...pinky beige with some yellow in it... or a yellowy beige with some pink in it? Or is it a pre-mixed colour that can be bought off the shelf so has an actual brand name? I'm very curious! From what I've learnt about colour..and what comes from mixing this with that...I've learnt that BEIGE, like GREY, is one of those indefinite hues that can be a combination of several colours.,,,its not a colour in itself... I was looking at a designr's page where many of the bedrooms featured were in Grey and I was surprised that I really liked some of them...so serene and pearly soft....then it dawned on me, Photography combined with Photoshopping is very clever today. I bet if I painted a my bedroom exactly in those grey colours it would resemble a tomb...probably because of the amount or quality of light coming into the room. So not a fan of grey for interior decor, nor a fan of beige...whatever hue these are. Not crazy about all white interiors either where the colour interest comes from..."pops" of this or that.

I love mirrors - they bounce light around and depending upon what they're reflecting they're great to use for feng shui - if you're really worried about using mirrors - ensure that they reflect back something terrific (say such as green plants outside). You need to review how you use plants - the ones that youve got are low - you need something that is eye height and on your furniture - to create different levels of greenery - so think about taller indoor palms, and when you get your TV wall mounted, you could use the TV unit for storage and put a plant(s) on top of it to give you different levels. If you can replace the map for other keepsakes/accessories from Mongolia I think you'd be better off. Soft fluffy "hairy/furry" cushions will soften your lounge and refer back to traditional heritage. You could replace the map with a Mongolian style rug or traditional artwork. Utilize a strong horse statue or vase, hanging a piece of traditional costume (similar to the way Kimonos are hung) or a piece of reproduction artwork - just pick things that you love on your coffee table and other walls. You could also do shadow box frames traditional jewellery/horse stirrups/bridles for something eye catching (you can source these online or if you've got family still in Mongolia it's well worth asking them to check out markets/antique shops). The map doesn't really do your home or your background justice - Mongolia has such a rich history and culture to pick from - have some fun with it. I think as soon as you remove the vertical blinds and replace them with curtains you'll instantly feel better - (hang them as close to the ceiling as possible - it'll make your room feel taller and the curtains themselves will bring a feeling of soft comfort) and with changing the coffee table you'll be on the right track.

Hi All, It sounds like tumeric and grease are the worst culprits for staining. We are looking to put the Cloudburst in our kitchen as our island and backsplash, but I'm very nervous. I love to cook and host. I also LOVE the look of this stone and would like to make it work if we can. Are there any bakers on this thread that have experience with these countertops? If you are rolling out dough or baking with greasy dough, how has that experience been? What if you get butter/oil on it? Any tips? Do you cover the counter before doing your baking etc.? I imagine beet juice would also be a nightmare?

Thanks Kim and pottsy for sharing your ideas! @ Kim, I thought white colour will usually make the space look more expansive, but after hearing your comment that it'd lift the space, I googled some living room photos with a white rug and it's so true! I am also hoping to have a low maintenance living room - and I can imagine even a small stain, dart, even my hair.. will look so apparent on a white rug. So, even though a white, fluffy rug sounds so attractive especially in winter like now, I'll think twice. It'll be an investment piece we'd like to appreciate it for a long time. Instead, we can probably put fluffy pillows to create a warm winter look for a limited time:) l love the photo of the living room you shared. It gives me a comfortable and warm feeling, and I am particularly impressed about the use of the colours in the artwork and cushions. They go so well together, without showing too much effort/calculation (that's the pro...🥂). @ pottsy, thank you for reminding me that it's okay to be little bit playful in dressing up our favourite rooms. We also tend to choose simple, "boring" colours for our clothes (and we also own a couples of tops with stripes with combinations of colours from grey/navy/black and white), though I do like various colours (blue, green, light pink etc...). Like what you shared and also suggested by Kim, it's such a good idea to use some colours we are truely drawn towards (the issue with me is that there are a lot - in your case it seems to be warm colours?😊), because when we are surrounded by our favourite colours - rooms or cars - they give us energy.
