HI Kate- here is a picture of the balustrading I have already (please excuse the mess!). The main stairway inside the house is very ornate cast iron- much more ornate than this one. There is also a cast iron gate a the bottom of the driveway looking straight up the long driveway to the new verandah.

The existing verandah on the right side of the house does not meet the code as its not even 1 m high.

This is the gate at the bottom of the driveway. I think I agree with you - matching the verandah on the right would look the best

If Your existing verandah is not up to code you should look at addressing that safety issue. If you are not touching that area you don’t legally trigger the requirement to upgrade it. But you should look at what is needed to do that upgrade and then work on a whole plan for the future.
The second hand Railing - if you want to use it first check that it meets current code. You could replace the curls with circles to match the front gate. But really a solid lower wall for privacy (no one wants to see floor level) and glass above or even wire strands would look better.

Great looking house. I'd paint the brick work all the same colour makes it look more grander. Keep the balcony same as the other part looks like it should be there then. Steps either need painting or cleaning. Is the driveway bricks clean too?

Yes like that. I will note a more solid style would give better privacy, but you want the focus on the top rail which should match the existing balcony. Wire rope is cheaper than solid metal bars.

A solid lower wall on the new balcony would block any sitting view from the living room, as amonymousanne said paint the railing that you were given black and use it, just make sure it's mounted at the 1.1 height
