kitchen upgrade

This is the kitchen in our holiday unit. It is a 2 bedroom Strata unit in a beachside country town that we use for weekends and holidays. The unit is a 1980s hexagonal shape and the kitchen sits in a corner of the open living dining shape. The awkward l-shaped bench reduces the space for dining table and does not comfortably accommodate bar stools. A laundry space is to the right of the main entrance next to a pantry cupboard and fridge. The electric cooker is next to a small sink under the window.
The proposed redesign keeps plumbing in the same place, puts the cooker where the pantry is and replaces the l-shaped bench with an island that will have storage drawers and work as a breakfast bar.
I would really appreciate your thoughts and suggestions for improvements and opinions as to whether the proposed plan will work.
