Wall Hung Vanity - flush or not flush with ledge/shelf behind it?

We are renovating an ensuite and would really appreciate some advice on how to hang our vanity.
We will have a frameless shower screen (no door), wall hung vanity and toilet - straight along one wall (in that order). We are creating a shelf/ledge behind the vanity and toilet, something like this photo here *except* that it won't extend into the shower as a recess..
We are planning to leave a gap ~ 100 mm between where the ledge finishes and the shower screen glass (for cleaning purposes).
Given we don't have much space to work with, aesthetically would it look better to hang the vanity flush with the end of the shelf, or inset from the edge (about 20-30 mm max)?
