Painting dilemma for walls, windows, skirts etc
Comments (8)I think a deeper neutral tone would work nicely and really make the window and door trims stand out. Also look nice with the black pendant light. Comments (24)Consult your agent as to whether the market warrants the spend. If you're doing just one thing, paint is better value. We spent ages cleaning marks off walls when we sold our last house and would have been better off just paying someone to paint the whole house (faster sale=more money). Re carpet, many people want floorboards or tiles now, therefore not worth replacing. Our current house was bought for a good price in a hot market, partly because the carpet had dog smell and some feature wall colours put off many people. We replaced with floating bamboo floorboards and painted the whole house off-white before moving in. Instant transformation....See MoreRecommend a painting/picture for my wall?

Comments (2)Its dumb because you need to spend a lot of time masking up everything that isn't going to be painted as there are always fine droplets of paint that drift and cover everything. You can't beat a broad paint roller for speed, especially if you add an extension handle for ceilings. Many project home builders use compressor-driven air spray guns for speed, but all the walls are the same colour and there is a knack to get it looking good. If you can afford a professional painter there is no good reason to do it yourself. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls...See Moredavincicalbourne
