After peoples feedback on our proposed plans. We are not sure if the family room is too big and if we should add something to divide the space. Also just after general feedback. Thanks
I’d add doors to lounge for noise control, and to ensuite for privacy and keep steam away from clothes. I’d add a basin to upstairs w/c. Kitchen as per your other post
What do you plan to use it for? Difficult to visualise without any idea of purpose and intended furnishings. But since there is a meals area, a seperate lounge .... I agree with Kate, add doors there .... and an upstairs retreat, the family room does appear unnecessarily generous for just another space with seating. I don't see what purpose dividing it would serve. It doesn't particularly lend itself to creating another room, and might even adversely affect lighting, depending on which way the house faces. Do you need any other type of room, noting you already have a study nook which might have been my first thought? Simply reducing size is a another option, and might have benefits not thought of.
The family room downstairs is a good size. Keep it as is. It is a thoroughfare to outside so you need space for walking around furniture, not through the furniture.
My concern would be the noise over the dining area from the upstairs toilet water when flushing. Looks as though the duct for plumbing comes down the wall of the dining area.
