I am confused on how to decorate this long narrow hallway.I started with putting a mirror on first wall.. But I am not getting a vision on how to proceed.. Looking out for some motivation..
You could add a narrow shelf below your mirror, add precious pieces in your niches or leave as is, a large artwork, keep it minimal to highlight your features, don’t overcrowd your lovely space.
I see a nice warm timber ceiling panel that needs echoing in this space. This may be achieved in your niches or by a warm rug I see hard single colour space with 2 rectangular niches and then the oval mirror sits at odds Does the mirror have a purpose here?
The shiny floors and many many downright make for quite a stark environment which needs softening.
The mirror may be functional but it does add another harsh reflective element.
The space needs softening with texture. If the niches could accommodate this it would be good. Art on some kind of fabric. A hall runner would be good but I think the bend in the hall will make that hard work.
This hallway is the first thing you see entering the main entry door..I placed the round mirror and initially placed a bench under it.. But as it was narrowing the space more, i removed the bench.. Probably I should remove the mirror too..
I am not a fan of the niche.. So i am not sure what to put in it..
Agree that the floor is too shiny..But it was already in this home.. I may not be able to change it..
Maybe run artwork along wall opposite niches, leave niches the same or add a lining to match entry ceiling , you could always change the lights for pendants, that could look fabulous and look great with the floor.
Remove the mirror, the hall is already too shiny and clinical. You don’t need to change the floor, Add a floor runner, even just along the first hall before the bend. A jute floor runner would add texture. As others have said change the pendant lighting to something with texture and interest. Hang artwork that is full of texture and colour. I like Julie Herbert idea of filling the niches with the same as the ceiling. Especially if you have nothing that is suitable to go in them.
If you don’t like the niches have them removed. They will always be difficult to decorate around. You could re-route the lights to have highlights for artwork, which would give a higher end look.
