What colour will I paint my gates?
Comments (97)I guess it's going to come down to how visible you want the gate to.be when I look the black against a light house colour - the black gate is quite prominent, but against the darker house not so much I hadn't thought about a blue gate, but when I went looking for pics the ones I found I really liked As for white- it would show up against a blue house Do not think I have helped.........See MoreFront and driveway gates for 60's triple fronted brick veneer
Comments (5)I love the gates you’ve found Dave. Painted white, they will be perfect. You are probably struggling to find gates for further down the driveway because typically those houses didn’t have them. The driveway led straight down to the garage located at the back. If you need gates for security then I’d suggest something that echoes the front gates. Something that will keep the kids and dogs contained but won’t visually interrupt the wonderful frontage. You don’t want to cut off the cascading look of the triple frontage as it moves deeper into your block....See MoreFront Reno - how can i modernize with Terracotta roof tiles?
Comments (18)frcrooks, I wouldn't be changing the garage doors and removing the garage gable as the front of the garage will look like a poorly proportioned aircraft hanger. I think you have a good starting point with the teal garage doors and acid yellow front door. One of my clients lived in a very conservative suburb and trusted me with a choice for acid yellow cladding to the entry. Now that it is finished they love it and they get lots of compliments from neighbours about their exterior colours. Best of luck, please don't do another drab Melbourne colour scheme, and consider engaging a professional colour consultant who understands the architectural style of your home. Comments (7)I think it would be helpful if we had a better understanding of the style you are going for (noting your comment that buxus seemed too formal). It seems like you are looking for hedge plants but have you thought of two small feature trees either side of your front gate along with under planting? I like The native Westringia Fruticosa (although it is not dissimilar to Buxus). There are a number of varieties and they can be trimmed to the desired height: https://www.gardeningwithangus.com.au/index.php?s=Westringia&search-by-term=Submit...See MoreM S
