Pool area design
We took the suggestions from a previous post about getting a sitting area inside the pool area and pushed the pool back to the boundary. However, if we do that, we have to do DA. If we live the pool 100mt from the boundary, it can be CDC 🙄
We were also told that even if we applied to DA, the council could get back to us asking to push the pool 100 mtr from the boundary.. what a dilemma. We are in Randwick council.
The only solution create more space about the pool area and leave it as CDC, is to lose some of the slidding doors opening, changing half of the slidding door for as a fixed window (gating the pool)
The issue is that we were dreaming of having a very open studio... so we either enclosed part of the studio or have a narrower space on each side of the pool gate

Comments (3)tannietara- Any stone (bluestone slate), travertine, brick, or concrete will get hot in the sun because of the thermal mass capacity of these dense materials. If you do use these them, you should consider lighter colors as they will reflect more of the solar radiation striking them, rather than absorbing it as will darker colors. Travertine may have the edge here, and by its nature is less dense than bluestone slate. You might also consider separating bluestone pavers with intermediate grids of turf (best), pea gravel, or decomposed granite which will break up the mass of the stone and help allow the stone pavers to cool. Comments (10)My piece of advice would be to make sure the plants you select can tolerate being around a pool. This will definitely be a 'splash zone' so any plant species that will get damaged or not cope with salty or chlorinated water. As an example, I have seen a beautiful row of Black Mondo Grass that suffered greatly from the pool water and died. Also be mindful of the size of plants you might be planting close to your pool. Comments (24)We intend to stay in our master upstairs for sometime and move down when we feel comfortable OR move them both into the guest bedroom which is opposite the new master. We originally had our master suite upstairs with the boys room down stairs, however we think it's safer this way when they are younger.
