Decorating fireplace in livingroom area
Comments (30)Great space to work with! As you know the best way to proceed is very subjective. It would suggest making it more personal than simply adding mirrors. Mirrors add a sense of depth to a space but it looks to be an already large space. Why not add a really lovely large painting above the fireplace (keep in mind there will be a bit of smoke regularly surrounding the painting). Then design or select wallpaper for the two nooks on each side of the fireplace. Then hang framed and non-framed items that have meaning to the family. Play with the scale of the items and think of each section as an exhibition of your family with large and small images, framed items (metals or ribbons and tapestries etc.). It will really depend on the items you have. Another ideas is to start a collection such as artworks of fruit/still life artworks from a few visits to antique shops. Keeping them beautifully framed is key to maintaining a sleek, timeless and elegant look....See MoreNeed some art/decor ideas for my dining area and lounge
Comments (14)Hi Ange, Megan from online art gallery, Bluethumb, here. I'm loving the mix of industrial and bohemian pieces you have! I believe that a statement artwork above the dining room table would look great, especially one that balances the two interior styles you have working for you. Here's one by a Bluethumb feature artist I think would perfectly fit with the different aspects of the room, as well as the warm colour palette. https://bluethumb.com.au/brewman/Artwork/summer-landscape-ron-brown The piece is called Summer Landscape by Melbourne artist, Ron Brown. I've mocked it up in situ for you, so you can really visualise it in the space. It measures 120cm by 90cm, so should fit nicely on the wall. I have some alternative ideas for you, also from our feature artists, if that one doesn't appeal: https://bluethumb.com.au/george-hall/Artwork/silent-heat-135-x-90cm-acrylic-painting-on-canvas https://bluethumb.com.au/suebannisterartist/Artwork/the-honey-comb-effect https://bluethumb.com.au/haruyomorita/Artwork/Soul-Portrait-2015-1 https://bluethumb.com.au/bradley-kickett/Artwork/bandee-lakes https://bluethumb.com.au/dinah-wakefield/Artwork/last-light-dinah-wakefield Let me know if you'd like any of these works mocked up! Some ideas for styling would be to keep the space feeling fresh with some plants, perhaps some succulents or native flowers on the dining room table. This would fit perfectly with the trees in Ron Brown's piece! Hope this helps! Megan...See MoreHelp with Living area decor
Comments (10)Hi Raman! Megan from Bluethumb online art gallery here. I agree that a large artwork would really add to the space and fill up the empty wall above the couch. Having artworks really adds personality to a room, and our philosophy here at Bluethumb is no nude walls! I saw that a canvas print has been suggested, but why buy a print when you can have a unique, original artwork by a local artist on your wall? Also, if you're thinking of floating shelves, a great way to make them a feature is some small framed prints! I think some white floating shelves on that 105cm wall by the archway would look great. I have a few suggestions for you: For the large piece above the couch, I'd go with a green toned piece that ties into the accent colour of the cushions. A nice landscape or nature themed piece would work well. https://bluethumb.com.au/claire-souter/Artwork/the-leaves-in-my-tropical-garden I've mocked this first option up for you - https://bluethumb.com.au/kitmcneill/Artwork/shifting-mist-over-wentworth-falls-blue-mountains-landscape https://bluethumb.com.au/fenton-bjw/Artwork/dionysus-s-eminence https://bluethumb.com.au/elaine-green/Artwork/my-view-or-the-way-i-see-it-elaine-green https://bluethumb.com.au/photography/pennyp/artwork/melbourne-summer For some smaller pieces for the floating shelves, you could try some prints or small original pieces by these popular artists: https://bluethumb.com.au/angus-martin/Artwork/crowded-v3 https://bluethumb.com.au/jasmine-radakovic/Artwork/female-form-151176 https://bluethumb.com.au/daniellagermain/Artwork/snowy-mountain-cottages https://bluethumb.com.au/sally-browne/Artwork/magpie-lennox-street-flame-tree https://bluethumb.com.au/darlene-lavertyty/Artwork/australian-wattle-watercolour-painting-limited-edition-print-large-framed-darlene-lavett https://bluethumb.com.au/photography/megangeorgephoto/artwork/floral-accent Let me know if you'd like any others mocked up, or if I can help with any more suggestions. Hope this helps!...See MoreDecorating a bar area
Comments (6)Yes you need some colour and interest. A large single artwork, or tile the back wall, or even a interesting wallpaper, add floating shelving for glasses. Display the bottles and your drinking glasses randomly. Your shelf is too ….organised. Purchase a large tray to hold the whisky decanters. Put coloured liquor bottles in front of the mirror, firstly to cover the mirror, second to reflect colour. If you are going to use as a charging station, then purchase a nice stand for equipment. Such as the gold one in the photo attached....See MoreBelinda X
