Need help for my lounge for small house I'm about to move into
Comments (31)Even though that is a fairly small space you could put some decorative trellises just in front of the fence with some ever flowering vines on them. Install a paver patio between them and the windows you hope to transform into doors.. You could also have the wisteria trained onto a pergola that would create a little shade for the patio as well. Some beautiful potted specimens/flowers and a couple of attractive outdoor chairs and you would have created a beautiful "picture" to act as a focus to the room. Additionally you have extra space for entertaining. Obviously the reason the previous owner obscured the window was because there wasn't much to look at. By creating a "view," you change the dynamic of the room as well as getting the light you want. Actual light will brighten the room like no change of floor would....See MoreInternal Door Hanging, Urgent Advice by anyone, Please
Comments (12)chookchook2, thank you, I was having an anxiety attack thinking I was about to make a horrible mistake both visually and financially, my builders who were hanging the doors said they were going against everything by hanging them with the shorter panels at the top, (upside down) M.M didn't want to get involved and frankly couldn't see a difference? neither could my daughter? I have an older Queenslander home and the doors were already being cut down to a non standard size, I thought this made them more obvious, like hobbits were living here? I had to post on FB to get another opinion as well because he was going to charge me by the hour and the cost of 3 new doors, but he managed to flip them over and trim them again to fit. I am so glad I stayed to keep an eye on things, otherwise right now I would be terribly disappointed. I still can't upload the finished pics?...See MoreI'm looking for 1 main bright bold colour to paint my house out and ma
Comments (14)I hear you, being a mum is a big job & not for the faint-hearted, hehe. That was sweet of your husband to do all that for you. As your ceilings and skirting and architraves are white, maybe a fresh white would really lift the whole house. There are many shades so my advice is to visit your local paint store and look at the whites. Hopefully, you will be able to narrow it down to a few. Of course, other colours might appeal to you as well, so just see what takes your fancy. Also, have you looked through the kitchen and living room Houzz photos to see if any particular room colours appeal to you? That might be helpful too. :)...See MoreNever reno’d and I’m struggling. Comments (20)Keep the cooktop as it is and add the fridge to the other end of the sink, this will give easy access for family and alfresco use. The long island can be just that 2800 x 900 with cabinets down one side and space to sit at on the other, or you can say halve it and have a table at the family end and replace the other half of the situp with 300 deep cabinets Instead of a sofa you could have a dining table, just depends on what you prefer. The old dining used for both study and Pantry/storage Mudroom? To accommodate the window in the study, I suggest drawers against the wall with an open desktop across the window You would need to change the garage door or you could keep it as is and just lose some of the cabinet (900) to allow the original door to open...See MoreJacqueline Knox
