Comments (7)Were the original plants Ficus by any chance? There are trees that you could use to fit in between those day beds like the newer mop tops - not the Robinia which suckers profusely. You dont want anything too big, just a small tree with a trunk and a canopy. I would put them in between the seats and at each end and you can keep the canopies trimmed. Ficus should NEVER be planted anywhere near homes, not even as street trees - their roots are just appalling. They are great in pots, but leave them there. Comments (3)For the car port I would keep it simple and open. Use a skillion colorbond roof attached to the house and timber support posts. Do you want to continue with the Tuscan theme? If so I think either go a whitish colour or a darker charcoal colour for the windows and doors. If you intend to paint the exterior walls then you open a whole other world! The front fence would look amazing out of sandstone if that is in your budget, otherwise what about a stackable stone finish which you could glue into a Hebel wall?...See MoreSmall living area design ideas help
Comments (6)Placing seating in this area would make it look like a waiting room so I would embrace its current function as a corridor. Get a lovely area rug that is almost as big as the space, hang some art on the walls to give them some interest and soften the french doors with a blind or curtain that can be opened or closed depending on your mood.
