The period and style of your home suggests gravel as the medium of use. Grey, not blue and fine. Some products have clay 'fines' amongst the small gravel that enables the product to compact really well when laid properly. You can push prams etc over it without a problem. Paving and concrete cause drainage problems with runoff warranting drainage to accommodate excessive run off. Gravel and aggregates absorb the water. The cost is much cheaper but also looks totally better. The sustainable alternative is always about thinking differently.

What about random/crazy paving the driveway to match what was on the pillars. Second choice the new light coloured pebble crete, exposed Ag as it's now called ,guess it depends on your budget., this is a very simple effect and the house would still be the star

I think the problem is that you have two different coloured materials abutting each other without enough contrast. The coping around the pool edge looks like a nice quality terracotta paver with a bull-nose edge in a sandstone colour. The rest of the paving looks like a standard terracotta brick paver. As you are on a budget I would keep the bull-nose edge material and replace the brick pavers with a large format concrete paver in a grey similar to the existing mortar colour. Replacing the bull-nose pavers is labour intensive and expensive. This will provide good contrast, visually tie in with the edge, and provide a cost effective, non slip surface.
