Twinshower above Ledge

Have you placed the Twin shower with handshower above ledge similar to the example image below:

My ledge is 750mm height from floor level and planning to place twin shower rail with shower head 250mm above the ledge as per my bathroom layout below.

Kindly share the pictures if you did like this as it will be helpful for me to visualize.

Since your ledge is 750mm high, i would double check on the how the plumbers are installing the rail for the twin shower. Because the inlet control may become too high for your children. This is because it will have to be installed above the 750mm ledge.

Something about your measurements seems off. As above I’d check with both plumber and builder. I don’t think you have room for a rail shower above the ledge.

I have a shower over bath combo' which its plastic resin something? It's a old bungalow and pitifully small. The amount of times I have nearly slipped over getting out, or lost my balance with soap in my eyes/ or after having a glass of wine. hate hate it. I did see a shower room with a additional hand held device and a over head shower. I thought that good for the odd squirt your feet down. The next owners will probably rip it all out and start again any way when design ideas change.

A window when you can't have a window

To Australian Home Designer. Thank you for your advice but I'm not trying to replace the doors with a window. The double glass doors are on the study, and they open onto the very small balcony which measures approx 2M X 0.9M. The balcony has slate type tiles on the floor, there is a roof above and it is enclosed either side by concrete? walls. The balcony has an opening about 2 M wide by 1.5 high, which is what I'm trying to addres. The balcony is next to useless as it is and I could make more use of it if I could enclose it. I tried to add another photo to give a better idea, but for some reason I wasn't able to. So, I'm not trying to replace a window but install something in an open space to act like a window. As this area is considered common property (even though no one else can have access to it unless they walk through the apartment), I have to advise the corporate body. Chances are they'll ask for me to arrange for a by-law to be drawn up. It never ends does it? The other thing I should mention is that Council said (when I first approached them) that the developer would have used every available space to the enth degree. The developer has confirmed this with me. The block is almost 2 years old and all owners are the first occupants. Thank you for taking the time to respond. It is much appreciated.

answering your questions: change the sliding door to a bench height sliding window and use the salvaged sliding door in the western end of the dining room where the best entry position is for the deck, you MUST have a proper legal drains do not consider anything else...the drain pipe for the garage laundry can be on top of the concrete floor, behind the washing machine and through the sink cabinet and/or under built in storage and only needs a few cms not a whole floor and no stepped up area that you would see or trip over.. the laundry can't be in a separate room as there's not enough space for a separate laundry without compromising the size of the garage...a laundry cupboard 80 cm deep is enough for the washing machine (allowing for the drainage pipe) you could use the old line cupboard to store anything you want but it's not cost effective to change, the entry foyer is already as big as in many modern homes and there's generous flatpac biw space in the small study.... the family bathroom is 2380 x 2370 (ie the old study minus 1m for hall way and wall thickness and, arranged exactly as shown to allow for the wide window there should be space for a bath up to 1800 x 750, vanity about 1200 x 500 and shower space 1200 x 800 and leftover space makes the small linen cupboard with the door deliberately opening towards the shower to use the back of the door for hanging racks for towels and clothes....btw i understood your priority was maximizing separate sleeping rooms and minimising costs...my last plan has five separate sleeping rooms plus the lounge with sofa bed totalling sleeping places for at least 10 people plus the potential for bunks in the garage so you need to decide what is most important and where you're prepared to compromise

Alright let's see if we can put this to bed. There's nothing at all wrong or amateurish with your home. Agree seeing photo it's arguably too much of a compromise nor cost effective to move/change the window considering outcomes. The solution here will come in the fit-out and how to balance that as best as possible within the constraints set. You can do it with a 1500 size bath option, 900x1200 shower. and it's essentially a tweak/fine-tune from the idea you had originally. (I shouldn't really do this but here you go/I'm feeling generous today ;) ) You run a ledge all the way around the back and end walls. Mirrored cabinets all along the end above the basin. This will feel massive and luxurious with the ledges/more dimension & interest. But you'd need a concealed in wall cistern. Any privacy concerns (in bathrooms) can be managed by combination blinds/furnishings - arguably much more flexible (and cheaper in this situation) than changing glazing to frosted glass. And then you still retain an outlook/light to your ensuite during the day etc... Good luck & Merry Christmas :) PD

My ledge is 1250mm from floor level. Ledge 150mm wide. Just a overhead shower not a twin shower. Middle of shower head is 450mm from wall. Looking at your measurements Ledge 750mm, rail installed at 250mm above ledge, plus position of outlet 550mm. Therefore Inlet height is 1550mm. Is this too high? Also with measurements shown the shower head sits at 1922mm above floor level. Is this too low. If no one in your family in above 1800mm in height then that would be okay, maybe….depends how tall your children get. I have attached a photo of my shower recess for reference, the top of white tiles is at 2000mm. Note the shower head is another 90mm higher at 2090mm. This is the same type of head as per your measurement photo, I think, where it is installed flat and does not pivot, therefore you stand under the shower head, and that is why you need it to be higher. My other bathroom has the shower head installed at 1900mm which is fine, because it is a pivot head and is positioned to spray across not down. Just more things to mention, so you get everything correct…..sorry 😀

And also the ledge is going to get in the way of the hose from hand held shower head. In this photo, if this is positioned at the same height you have posted, then the hose is going to be hanging out, over the ledge. I can’t find a photo showing your scenario only this one with the ledge on the side.

i just drawn my shower with floor height 2700mm. all my 3 bathrooms are same layout (attached image below)

i am planning to go for showerhead with Swivel ball joint adjustable.

My height is 1610mm only. my smallest kid aged 7, height is 1250mm now.

For safer side, if i place the shower head at 2200mm height then the diverter will be at 1800mm so i can reach this but my kids cannot and may use a small stool to reach the diverter until they growup in few years :-) . i left 500mm for hose pipe free movement (is this enough ? ).

i dont know whether this measurements will work and i will check with plumber and builder to decide. otherwise i will go for niche in side and remove the ledge.

Even if i go for shower head at standard height 2000mm and diverter will be at 1600mm. it seems the twinshower wont suite for family with small kids until they grow up LOL. i am planning to go for twinshowers in all the 3 bathrooms.

The kids don’t need to use the diverter. Set it for them before they shower. With ball joint mine only has a very small movement which is annoying

My kids like to switch between shower head and handshower. Otherwise Will call me sometime for help 😁 . I thought the swivel shower head can be turned as it's mentioned as 180degree

Your ledge is abnormally low. Your children won’t stay short for long. I love a ledge in preference to niches but I’m not sure it works with your preferred shower style.

Diverter being placed at 1800mm is way too high. Keep your current set up measurements. Shower rail 250mm above current height ledge.

will the 250mm gap enough for Shower rail bottom hose pipe free movement?

how about keeping the ledge in other side opposite to Shower ? lenght of my shower is 1500mm

Yes, you could move ledge to opposite end. For your chosen shower system this would be better.

thanks dreamer. dont know how this ledge will workout in opp wall as the distance is 1.5metre between shower and opp wall. have to check again :-)
