Skirting board and architrave combos
Comments (12)You didn't mention your spectacular honey-coloured plywood ceiling which is a beautiful feature. I think that stained timber skirtings and architraves will detract from your ceiling, especially as they will be a different timber, colour and look to your ceiling. You have white walls, you have white windows, why would you introduce a contrasting timber element in the form of an architrave? The only answer is to paint the skirtings and architraves in the same colour as your wall, so that they "disappear". The concrete floor, the timber ceiling and the raked ceiling have enough visual interest and you don't need any more. Comments (6)No it's not too difficult it just needs a tradesman with some degree of scribing & finishing chops..that's so bad it's comical..... The portion of skirt under the lower step doesn't need to be profiled, rather it needs to read like the stair stringer detail has extended to the floor level and returned around the corner and abutting into the original larger skirt profile... Whatever you do on these things you don't want to notice anything and currently it's an eyesore Good luck! PD...See MoreWidth of arcs to suit skirting boards?
Comments (0)Hi guys need your help with choosing the right width of architraves to match the skirting boards for our house. The look we are trying to achieve is contemporary industrial. I seen a door inspo pic and like the clean lines from a square edge slim profile skirting boards. We have chosen the 9.2cm height with 11mm thickness. Now for the arcs I’m actually torn. I wanted the 4.2cm arcs to go around the door as we don’t want the door to look to chunky. But everywhere I read it says good balance is about 6.7cm width against a 9.2cm skirting board. I came to Bunnings to have a look at it and put both widths to get an idea. Which do you guys think would work better?...See More- 3 months ago
