Help! Cedar weatherboard house update
Comments (80)Here is the old house..lower cedar undergoing clean and is now all oiled. Window trims on right painted in dune. Ok. So had heart attack yesterday. Roof painter came out. I am at work. He and my son decided to ‘colormatch’ my already woodland grey painted posts and decide ....yes it’s armour grey....I had told both days earlier woodland grey...now have an armour grey roof which is same as windspray...don’t know whether to laugh or cry..more cry actually. Heart was set on woodland grey and dune trims. But I did really like your windspray..so confused now what to do....any help would be appreciated....See MoreExterior update - two story bright white house
Comments (10)Agree with above posters, remove the lacework from the portico and even the railing (although cant see it too well) I would also remove the large bush in front of the door and in the centre of the front wall and replace with a one or two tall and large statement plants in pots (dark/black/charcoal coloured) and plant out the garden bed with the same plant the full length, maybe a lavender or something to add a pop of colour. Also add good mulch to both garden beds and a bit of a general garden tidy up will help. Adding a top coat to the lawn will pay dividends at this time of the year! If there is any loose or uneven pavers, fix those up. Potential buyers are always looking for clues to gleam whether the house has been well looked after, and these small details can sometimes be a deterant. I think your house looks grand, not boring. If there is a porch light, maybe update that to something black and modern to reference the dark in the pots and a colourful new doormat. I cant see your front door, but if there is no security screen, paint the door a striking new colour which references your internal decor. As others have said, try to spend as little as possible as, there is no guarantee that the extra spending will be reflected in the sale price. All the best with the sale....See MoreHelp! Comments (17)Actually, your style isn't really very scandi in my opinion. It's industrial and rustic. I'd match recycled and chunky timbers with the concrete, a timber with rich reds. There is a company near me that makes plywood panels with recycled wood veneer attached. They're too far for you but might give you some ideas for a feature wall. I'd start with a few tins of paint and some colour actually. you'd be surprised what that can do! I'm fixing, well technically my second home but with our first we figured fairly quick it wasn't a forever home and didn't do anything personal with it. So this is our first "home" if not our first house. i getya! I know everyone seems to love white walls, but after years of bland rentals the first thing I wanted to do was paint colours all over the walls! Anything but white! Paint is cheap and a safe place to start testing your design flair. Go and paint a bunch of sample tins onto the walls and don't stress too much about the perfect look. start with what you like and find what suits that. A colour that makes you smile when you see it. I've paid about $10 a sample tin. like others said, don't do anything with the carpets yet, you can throw a rug over it if its too boring and it will look fine. There are so many things that I first thought I needed to completely change, then as I painted and freshened and tidied up I realised were not needed a huge reno. Our house was a bit of a wreck though, not a nice new apartment so things just literally needed cleaning and fixing. Put up some pictures, art, photos you like too. Honestly, I know everyone's being funny about getting a girlfriend and getting her to decorate, but actually I think it's great you've got your own taste and want to decorate. I think anyone you bring home would love seeing more of your personality around the place. Check out some garage sales and buyswap sell and auctions for rustic timber pieces for your home. Maybe a nice pipe and timber bookshelf in the lounge instead of an entertainment unit? https://www.northernriverstimber.com.au/...See MoreIn desperate need of help to fix our ugly beige house!
Comments (24)That’s pretty much the height we were looking at going for so it’s an obvious step up and matches with the front door height. Good point about the front door we will probably install new crimsafe so you won’t be able to see any of the wood at all. Yes landscaping is the biggest thing we need but we are so clueless we just shoved plants in but it clearly didn’t work lol We will be planting along the driveway and putting in lights along it as well and there is a (very messy) hedge hiding the concrete in front of the door- which looks even worse right now because there’s marks from the hail. Our biggest problem is we live on rock and it’s such a steep incline so everything we plant grows weird or not at all I would love a beautiful lush front garden:( Is there anything we can do to the concrete to make it look nicer? If it’s painted with some kind of textured paint would that be too slippery?...See MoreCreative Visual Concepts, Kevin Strader
