Emergency need of wire storage solutions - please help!
Comments (6)i have the SAME EXACT problem. my hubs is in IT too, same problem lol. I bought one of those huge rubbermaid totes and a BUNCH of ziplock bags in all sizes. every cable or wire or whatever went into a separate bag and labels were applied if needed. it took half the day to get it done but it was so worth it. the bin is in a closet and makes life so much easier when he needs some weird wire or a spare mouse for some new computer thingy or whatever he does lol. also, i asked him what was trash as we went thru all the wires, etc and managed to significantly decrease the amount of crap......i was so proud of him :) oh yeah, here's a tip if you go this route, get the bags with the zipper closures, or you'll want to rip your hair out from frustration....See MoreCable tangle ...
Comments (23)@ dorothyoliphant..wish you luck! I commiserate with your wanting the tangled cables out of sight. Cables are my nightmare, really! I am an amateur publishing buff with several printers, scanner, other devices. Needed a corner table for all the stuff...and all with cables tied together in a haphazard manner running down the back of the desk to a power board on the floor....all hidden behind a ply screen across the corner underneath the desk. Seems tidy, keeps the cat out of it, but difficulr to access and to keep clean. How do other people solve the office desk cable problem? I've seen busy publishing offices using many devices, all the cables hanging down the backs of desks...but nobody seems to be bothered, (suppose because its somebody else's problem, not in the employees own homes.) For the TV cables. an "out of sight" decorative solution works because the cables are accessible if needs be,, but the electrical cable tangle problem hidden under my desk collecting dust on the floor is an issue for me..... ..what if I spill a drink.... or something? The TV and the cat I bred siamese cats time ago. The magnificent stud was very posessive, jealouse of my attentions being anywhere else than on him. I'd purchased a really dinky little table top TV, company for the times spent tending to my prize felines in their courtyard/ outdoor enclosure. Suddenly the TV succumbed to vertical collapse. What had caused the problem? The technician grinned saying : " Its a wonder your fancy cat still has his equipment!" No jealous stud cat these days but one never knows what could happen to cables on the floor even if neatly hidden. @ wuff.. Re the 'adhesive cord tidy' with the click-on front from Bunnings that you mention... Will it stick to any surface? My walls are timber. Does it come in wider-deeper sizes...my cables are many. I'm in the country, Bunnings is 65k away. I'd need to phone them so need to know how to explain what I need. Would appreciate any further detail you could give. Thanks.. Does anyone else know of a safe, easily accessible solution for a multi cable problem? Something up off the floor, secured behind a fixture on the wall? I'm all out of original ideas on this. Thanks in advance for any solutions! Thanks dorothyoliphant for your original post about TV cables...led me toaddressing my own cable problem that I'd been trying to dismiss....See MoreMould and cold
Comments (41)HI All....read everything and to me it would appear the main cause is your slab, albeit issues around the slab. A trench is a start, with extra drainage (black round pipe with heaps of holes in it, and loads of scoria). My opinion is that the actual ground is damp and unfortunately concrete is porous, so as long as there's heaps of water around that cannot drain away, the concrete will slurp it up. (I'm no drainage expert) As far as your gib goes, I don't think you have any option but to replace it (then insulate wall by wall as you go.) Here in NZ, I previously worked for a company that did leaky building repairs, and honestly, that black mould is a very real danger to the family's health, so it's got to go. Like others have said, you may get rid of it visually for a period of time, but once you rip the gib off, you may come across other issues. I'd also invest in a dehumdifier and keep that cranked to start getting moisture out of the air, or other options as others have mentioned. Sorry Cathy, ain't no easy fix there..................... Is it possible to have a look into council records to see what the land back in the day was actually used for? That may give you an insight into what the problem could be....See MorePlease help with my kitchen layout
Comments (50)thanks, below is the bin cabin i am looking to get its 450mm https://www.arova.com.au/collections/side-mount/products/soft-close-70l-pull-out-waste-bin-for-450mm-cainet-white the reason i put 1440 wide is that the maximum wide benchtops comes in, since it needs a joint due to the column i can cut the 3000mm stone cut in the middle and make 1500 wide of more, no problems. moving the door involved too much work like cutting bricks, door frame etc. Agree the 600mm is too deep for top cabinets, i am thinking of doing 600mm drawers with a bench then like 300-400 gap, and top cabintes at 450 or 300mm deep....See MoreDorette Norris
