Put up a big mirror if you don't already have one. If not maybe a towel rack....? But if you want to go with something more entertaining either a few water proof paintings. Also, I can see you have a few bits and pieces on the table over the bathtub so maybe buy a couple more of those and how about add in a couple long horizontal shelves and fill them with cute little decorations and there you go. yvonne.. re sanding cupboards I had mine professionally sanded because they were looking worn. timber is American Oak and it really didn't lighten very much by sanding. so depending on your timber you might not achieve much. i would change a few upper cabinets with glass doors, white perspex or remove a few doors, paint the back of shelving and hang wine glasses or whetever and break the load that way. I replaced my range hood with a pull out chrome one and that in itself made a difference nt tying in with the chrome handles. see pictures. maybe you could paint the legs or reupholster the stools to white...all part of the kitchen.

Thanks for the input! do you think that subway or 6x6 tiles would be better in the shower? Im not sure why but i was thinking that the 6x6 might be more consistent with the style of the basin. Dark blue or light blue for the accent tile in niche? Its a VERY small bathroom which was why I was leaning towards white floor. Trying to make it feel bigger. But maybe thats an error. This is the floor tile that I was considering. Too busy? I have to admit I like the dark blue tile of the last photo that Dreamer posted alot but was worried that a dark color would not work in a small space.

Hi, Just a couple of final comments. I don't think it will look cheap if you keep the bath, if it is done well. There have been some great suggestions for you to consider. The herringbone floor tile you originally posted looks quite peach in tone and that would not work with the tone of the bath. If you are adding any pink to the room, try to keep on neutral to blue side of pink rather than neutral to yellow. Essentially I think by keeping the bath, whilst modernising the room, you need to have a 'nod' the the art deco origins of the bath. The terrazzo or small mosaic Bisazza like tiles will help with that. The Zellige wall tiles can have a similar impact and although there may be a few peacher tones in the mix of those tiles, you cabn select those out if you order more than you need. Use them somewhere else, like a laundry splashback! The coloured tiles could be a feature wall or the floor and then balance the cost of those with a simple white tile elsewhere. Be careful of using a brick bond tile pattern as that is reminisent of times pre dating the bath and you want to bring the room forward in time. Tapware is a bit tricky. I'm not a fan of black as I think it is a fashion that will fade and generally black will mark in a wet area that may have calcification or with cleaning products over time. Copper would look cool if you can afford it and brushed brass would work nicely too. It depends on what other metals you have around. What door handles are you having? You can make the bathroom different to the rest of the house if you want but don't mix and match in the one room. Good luck and post photos when done. Christine.
