I would select stationary panels to go between each window and at the ends of the windows and depend on something else for privacy and climate control. Or you could do as JMittman so nicely suggested and use roman shades on each window, mounting them just below the ceiling. Plantation shutters could also be used with stationary panels. You would probably get the best cold weather control with draperies that close over all the windows, but you do not have a lot of space between some of your windows, so you should discuss with your local drapery person how much glass would have to be covered with operable draperies. A soft honeycomb shade stacks into a 1-2" space and disappears when it's up. The honeycomb feature holds in the hot and cold with about a 3.4 R value and the blackout has a higher R value. With all the dark woods, I like the softness of honeycomb shades.

If you're renting why are you worried? The blinds look like they function ok and by the looks of them they look in good condition. Seems like a waste of money and time to be bothered changing only to change back once lease is up.

Hi Karina S The recess romans and curtains dont work. Roman blinds are best when they are face fitted for 2 reasons: 1: To stop light seepage from the sides 2: The roman stacks when its up and mounted in the window blocks daylight. I would not recommend recess fit for roman blinds. Curtain stacks in your case will block the window sides when in open position and hard to draw next to the bed. Never use shortened curtain lengths either- they never look good. You could consider roller blinds face fitted with a wall to wall pelmet to conceal the roller brackets etc. Best wishes
