Luke, Definitely a pool because we've had one installed in our new home. I've attached a photo of the pre finished pool prior to the frame going up and of course there's still the tiling etc...

Thanks everyone for your comments so far. Bowmandrum , I definitely agree you need to tick as many boxes as possible for potential buyers. In answer to a few of your questions, we are in Sunny Brisbane, so the weather is not really an issue. However, our dilemma between a pool and spa is the very difficult access, the size of machinery dictates what we can actually accomplish. Hence, from our point of view it very much is a case of asking the question, if we can only manage a spa - will people appreciate it/want it or is it not worth it. Based on feedback with the poll it looks the spa will be worth the investment.

Hi Rick, As a spa is a time for R&R it is important for it to feel like a secluded space away from the hustle and bustle of life. I would remove the stick fencing and paint the existing fence in that corner white or whitewash. From here I would add bamboo along the left hand side of the safety fence to increase privacy and the 'retreat' feel, leaving the side with the entrance open. Planting a wide variety of tropical plants will enhance the space further, lots of green but do not be afraid to mix in some purples and pinks here and there. If you are scared of killing the plants, succulents are really hard to kill. Even installing a few simple shelves on the far fence to hold candles and other decorative items will make the space come together. Fairy lights are great for outdoor spaces used at night also, solar powered options are available. You even have the option to include some seating as you have so much space. Again, going white will really lift the space. Some fun hooks on the fence would be awesome for towel/robe storage also.

I've got one ( its a corner one ) , I like it , even though it doesn't get much use as I mainly use the shower . Basically , you can use it as a bath , or as a spa , so it only uses more water if you want to use the spa function . The main reason though is the nicer ones have way more of a Wow than any bath I can think of . I'd even forgive someone who had an all-grey bathroom and grey towels as long as you have a spa bath ! And if you are the North Island of NZ , in my shed I actually have a standard bath shaped one . In Apricot . With gold jets . And the basin to match ! I pulled it out of a rental place 15 years ago -- I should reinstall it !
