Not sure what colour cushions will suit my brown leather lounge
Comments (92)Hi Blufitch, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The four coffee tables are lovely, but I would probably opt for one of the two top ones. That being said, check the measurements first as these round tables might be significantly larger than your existing Ikea table. Re the potted plant, a taller one would be better, or you can put this one on a plant stand or even on a ceramic stool. But if you feel a mirror would be too much due to your mirrored splashback, leave the plant as it is and hang a framed print above the plant. It doesn't need to be big, but it's important that it s not too small so it doesn't look too "lost" on the wall. It's hard for me to judge the size from here, but a 70x40 frame might be ok. You could have only the yellow canvas above the couch, but you would have to bring in a few more brightly-coloured cushions or throw onto the couch, to compensate for the empty wall. Alternatively, you could also hang a large mirror above the couch. If you decide to do this, I think it would be best to move the canvas back to where it was, and hang the mirror in front of the window, so it reflects the natural light around and gives more depth to the room. The large Ikea Stave mirror (in white stained oak) is very reasonably priced and would work great. Just double check it fits first (it's 70x160)! Tell us how yo go! Comments (10)Hello again, Definitely not too warm. I am not entirely sure what paint colour you are thinking of but as pointed out - easier to adjust paint rather than the other way around. If the tiles were really grey and the walls were that tone as well, it would be a very flat, souless look - the slight touch of warmth in the tiles is a good thing and honestly being so neutral your options are huge with colour of walls, particularly if you are intending to use this tile throughout. May I suggest you choose a paint colour and then use different depths of the same colour depending on sunlight, dark corners, more impact in certain areas etc to create the interest. Be wary when you have such a neutral, albeit very tasteful tile, it may be wise to adjust the paint in this way to lift the level of interest. Take a look at the following colours - Resene House White and Resene Concrete as starters - very unobtrusive. You could always go for a hit of charcoal in areas too. Avoid any "feature" walls - do the whole room - nothing wrong with strong, dark colour, even in small rooms - think powder room or laundry if you are not brave enough to do an entire, larger room. I am also assuming you will be introducing plenty of white trim on skirting boards etc - for what it is worth, my go to white is nearly always Resene Alabaster. Loving the sound of the carrara - such a classic. Hope that helps :)...See MoreBathroom tiles - run floor tiles up one or all walls in shower?
Comments (8)It can either look really dramatic or too dark, depending on the size of the room as well as your other components. I've attached a couple of images of our work using dark tiles, the smaller bathroom we have surrounded the bath with dark tiles but then balance it with an extra large mirror to bounce the light around the room. The larger bathroom we have taken the floor colour way onto the wall but used a different texture on the walls for drama. Hopefully this gives you more of an idea but you shouldn't to nervous of the room being dark, it's where you can create a contrast as well as textures. Look forward to seeing what you go with in the end....See MoreRenovating a bathroom and after a color palette to suit feature wall
Comments (8)Hi everyone, Thanks for the comments. The room is 2m x 3.6m. The window and door are at either end on the 2m part. Was thinking about using this tile along one wall, yes all 3.6m. It is a porcelain slab measuring 2.7m x 1.2m. 3 slabs for the wall. Lighting is good, no option for skylight. On seeing the tile it's like wow! But the more I think about it I feel like i'm trying too hard and forcing it to work. I'll aim to get a sample and see how things sit together. So far using windows paint to edit pictures hasn't helped. Thanks again, Grant...See MoreJanice in Perth
