@barbmaggie,

I'll try the Monstera in water, never done it before but good to know someone out there has not just done it but had success.

I have several lucky bamboo displays throughout the home just in water and they're doing very well, although I read that they will last longer and do better in soil as I would have also thought with your Monstera but there you go, sometimes there are exceptions!!

I have a spider plant indoors, I got it from a friend next door that had it living totally unprotected outside, repotted it and brought it inside but I think I watered it too often and I all but lost it but I have completely stopped the water for a time and it recovered.

As for scale, I have a China Doll indoors and it was so covered in scale that the honey dew went all over my new carpet not to mention almost every leaf on the bush died!!

Anyway, I just washed the remaining leave and stems in warm water and treated the scale both by removing them with my hands and also spraying with a suitable product for scale and it has recovered and put on all new leaves.

Ah, yes, honey dew from scale, I think the little honey eaters deal with the scale outdoors, have seen them in the hanging baskets where I have my spider plants, they even tried to make a nest there. I will try again with some of the pups, hopefully these are not infested. Thanks Barbara
