Pocket doors allow the multifunctional family room to become a private main floor fifth bedroom for weekend guests. Ottomans are used in lieu of a coffee table, offering extra seating as well as surface space and allowing better traffic flow.
The proportionally-sized custom wall unit with strategically placed angles and touch-latch doors (eliminating protrusions) leaves just enough functional floor space for the queen-size mattress to open comfortably.

In the great room, special attention was paid to the ceiling detail, where square box beams “picture frame” painted wooden planks, creating interest and subtle contrast. A custom built-in flanks the right side of the fireplace and includes a television cabinet as well as wood storage.

This wood slat wall helps give this family room some eye catching yet low key texture and detail.

The Custom Built in and Fireplace rework set the tone for the new Living Room. The backdrop to the built-ins was a sort of whitewashed shiplap wood wall detail. A clean neutral palette of fabrics in the linen tones made the space very comfortable.

This family loves all things coastal. The cool, clean blue, wheat, and white color palette gives this family room its breezy, relaxed, coastal feel. We used real beach sand and shells as accents inside hurricane glass candle holders and real starfish on the drapes. The room is anchored with a large sea grass rug. Using natural organic elements gives this room an authentic touch of the outdoors.

Restricted by a compact but spectacular waterfront site, this home was designed to accommodate a large family and take full advantage of summer living on Cape Cod.
The open, first floor living space connects to a series of decks and patios leading to the pool, spa, dock and fire pit beyond. The name of the home was inspired by the family’s love of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie series. The black pearl resides on the cap of the main stair newel post.
